Thanksgiving Prayer 🕊️

Gracious and Loving God,

As we gather in gratitude this season, we pause to reflect on the many blessings You have bestowed upon our school community. We thank You for the gift of education, for the students who inspire us, the staff who support us, and the families who walk alongside us.

We are especially grateful for the opportunity to serve as leaders—entrusted with guiding hearts and minds toward truth, compassion, and excellence. May our decisions be rooted in wisdom, our actions in love, and our words in encouragement.

Bless our school with unity, peace, and purpose. May we continue to grow in faith and service, always mindful of Your presence in our work and relationships.

With thankful hearts, we offer this prayer.

Amen.

On Thursday, September 26th, the St. Evan Catholic School community proudly participated in our annual Terry Fox Walk, honouring the legacy of a true Canadian hero. The entire school was involved in this meaningful event, with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 walking through our neighbourhood in a spirit of unity and perseverance. Staff, students, and volunteers came together to show their support, many wearing red and white and carrying signs of encouragement. It was a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have, and a beautiful example of our school living out the values of courage, compassion, and community.

On Orange Shirt Day, the St. Evan school community came together to honour Truth and Reconciliation through meaningful liturgies for the entire school. Students in Grades 1–8 participated in a powerful assembly prepared by Mrs. Gabil’s and Ms. Morizio’s classes. In addition, Ms. Faye and the entire Kindergarten division thoughtfully participated in their own way to honour this special day. Through prayer, reflection, and learning, we recognized the importance of remembering and respecting the experiences of Indigenous peoples and reaffirmed our commitment to reconciliation.

Dental Screening

DPCDSB has updated the process for obtaining parental consent for dental screening by our two jurisdictional public health units. We are returning to an opt-out model, which was used prior to the 2024–2025 school year.

This applies to schools located in Peel Region, which are under the jurisdiction of Peel Public Health/PPH as well as to the three Orangeville schools which are under the jurisdiction of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health/WDGPH.

For the Orangeville schools, WDGPH has already communicated with you directly, so this message is focused on our Peel Region-based schools.

Please note the following important changes that will affect your school community:

· Consent forms/letters will no longer be used.

· All students will be considered to have consented to dental screening unless their parent/guardian actively opts out.

· To opt out, parents must complete and submit the Peel Public Health opt-out form via http://www.peelregion.ca/dental/schoolscreening or they can call Peel Public Health directly at 905-799-7700.
