Be a Hero, Stay Drug Free: Red Ribbon Spirit Week of October 26th
Halloween Around Disney
Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Friday, October 30th. Weather permitting, we will parade out door #1 and around the building. Our kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors!
Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels may be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check at least 48 hours prior to volunteering.
Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Friday, October 30th. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade only, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath. Below are some guidelines for school appropriate costumes:.
- No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc)
- Masks are not to be worn in school, they may be worn for the parade only
- HEAVY makeup is not to be worn (light makeup only-eyeshadow, painted freckles, rosy cheeks, etc.). All makeup must be done at home and stay on for the entire day.
- Glitter and fake blood are not to be worn or brought to school.
- Inappropriate costumes are not to be worn to school. Please choose costumes that are positive and/or represent a good role model for our students.
- No roller blades, roller blade shoes, skateboards or scooters.
- No bare midriffs.
- For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Halloween Costume Parade
On Friday, 10/30, weather permitting, parents are invited to line the parking lot and blacktop around the building to watch our students proceed by in a short costume parade on Halloween. We will begin picking up the students in their classrooms at 10:00, and will proceed out of Door #1.
Families- Please keep the sidewalk and blacktop area closest to the building clear around the building, but feel free to stand/sit on the outskirts of the sidewalk/blacktop around the entire building to view the parade.
Please note- In the event of inclement weather, the outdoor parade will be canceled and spectators will not be able to come inside for our indoor parade. We will try to make a decision by 9:15AM, and will push out a text & email if we end up needing to switch gears and move the parade inside. We appreciate your patience/understanding on this!
5th Grade Recorder Concert - Monday October 19th
On Monday, October 19th, fifth-grade students from across the district showcased their musical talents at the annual Recorder Concert. It was amazing to see how much they have learned in just the first few months of band! Their hard work, focus, and enthusiasm truly shined through during the performance. We are so proud of our young musicians and can’t wait to see them continue to grow as many of them move on to join band this year.
Missing Items? Check Out Disney's Lost and Found
Our lost and found is filling up with a large number of zip-up hoodies and sweatshirts. If your student is missing any items, please have them check the lost and found!
You can help us reduce the number of items in our lost and found by labeling tags and water bottles with your students name. When found, we will return to your child!
PBIS Spotlight: October Character Trait - Self Control
As part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, each month we focus on a character trait that helps our students grow as Disney STARs. For the month of October, our focus is on Self-Control. Self-control means making good choices even when it’s hard, thinking before you act, and managing your emotions in a positive way.
Throughout the month, students will participate in classroom lessons, discussions, and activities that highlight ways to practice self-control at school, at home, and with friends. Staff members will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate this important trait each day!
At the end of the month, we’ll celebrate students who consistently show self-control and make positive choices as our October SuperSTARs!
Behavior Reflection vs SWIS Referral
Our district-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program in Fraser is designed to reduce undesirable behavior by reinforcing positive choices and rewarding good conduct. Occasionally, students may be asked to reflect on their actions. When reflection is needed, students will complete a Behavior Reflection Form, which helps them consider their choices and how to improve their decisions moving forward. These forms are sent home and kept by classroom teachers to reference as needed.
If repeated behaviors persist despite Behavior Reflections, or if a more serious offense occurs, a SWIS form will be completed by a staff member. This form is then logged into our Behavior Management System for documentation and follow-up by either the classroom teacher (minor) or building principal (major). In both cases, a form will be followed up with a call home.
By documenting and communicating these behaviors, our goal is that together Disney will be a safe place for everyone. Thanks for your continued support!
Mickey and Minnie Award
As part of our PBIS system, our Mickey and Minnie awards travel to classrooms each week to recognize students for demonstrating our Disney STAR expectations! Mickey visits the classroom that does the best job keeping its room clean and tidy at the end of the day, while Minnie visits the classroom showing outstanding lunchroom behavior.
Last week, Minnie spent time with Mrs. Pozolo's 1st Grade class for their great lunchroom behavior, and Mickey visited Mrs. Filip's third grade class for doing a wonderful job cleaning up at the end of the day!
Keep up the great work, Disney! We can’t wait to see where Mickey and Minnie travel next!
Student-Led Conferences
Celebration of Learning
Student-Led Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 29th from 1:00-3:30 and from 4:30-7:30. This year, ALL families will be invited to attend our Fall Conferences to celebrate learning!
This conference will be a true Celebration of Learning led by our students. We will host an open-house style event from 1:00-3:30 and again from 4:30-7:30, allowing families to attend during a 10–15-minute time slot that best fits their schedule.
Each classroom will feature 4-6 viewing stations where students can share their learning experiences with their parents. During this time, students will reflect on their goals, showcase their work, and highlight their progress since October. Teachers will circulate throughout the classroom providing support as needed. Each student-led conference is expected to last about 10-15 minutes. If all viewing stations are occupied in the classroom, we kindly ask families to wait in the hallway until a station becomes available.
Please know our special education staff will be available for walk-ins during the entire day. Specials teachers will be rotating between assigned buildings; however, if you’d like to speak to someone specifically just let us know in the main office and we will have them follow up with you.
Our goal is for 100% of students and families to attend this event. We look forward to celebrating your child’s learning with you.

Picture Re-Take Day - Monday, November 16th
As you know, School Picture Day was a few weeks ago. If your child was absent or needs their picture retaken, SchoolPictures.com has been scheduled to return on Monday, November 16th. If you wish to participate in picture retake, please send the original picture package to school with your child.
Minutes Matter Too!
The bell to start the school day rings at 8:30 a.m. We have had a problem with many students arriving late to school. This not only affects the student who is tardy, but also has an impact on the rest of the classroom. Many important events take place at the beginning of the school day. When a student arrives late, they are missing out on important classroom assignments as well as important announcements. They also interrupt the learning environment for the rest of the students. Please make every effort to assure your student starts the day off in positive way by getting them to school on time.
We have also have an increasing number of students leaving early daily. We dismiss at 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted. Students withdrawn early also miss on daily instruction and interventions. They also disrupt the learning environment. Please make every effort to schedule appointments outside the school day. We want to make sure all of our students are learning. Once we reach 3:15 we may not be able to dismiss your student early. With the many moving parts at the end of the school day, it is not always possible to redirect a student to the office at that time.
Health Guidance for Attending School
At Disney Elementary, we want to partner with our families to create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all of our students.
Please send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children home unless they are truly too sick to engage in learning and school routines.
To support families in making these decisions, we’ve put together a helpful reference chart outlining when to keep your child home and when they can safely return to school for common illnesses.
Thank you for working with us to keep our students and staff healthy and ready to learn!
Red Flag Outside Indicates Indoor Lineup
When the red flag is hung outside our front doors, this means indoor line-up. Students only can enter the building thru the main door (door #1) as well as the back door (door #18) starting at 8:20 AM.
Please utilize the car drop-off line and students will enter in the back of the building (door #18). If your child needs assistance, please park in a parking spot and walk your child to the main entrance (door #1). Student drop off is NOT allowed in the bus loop during indoor lineup.
