The Muraski Tribune: Issue 15
Important Dates and Information for the 24-25 School Year
Weeks of March 3rd & March 10th
A Message from the Principals
Muraski Families,
We are officially in March and today marks the start of the 3rd Trimester. We kick the trimester off with Say Something Week. This is a week where we reiterated the importance of our students saying something when they see, hear, or face challenges in our school or in the community. We want them to be Upstanders, and stand up and do the right thing to help and support others. In addition to Say Something week, we have our book fair going on, Breakfast with a Buddy, as well as a whole bunch of learning taking place in our classrooms.
This time of year, although we have so many fun things going on, tends to be the most difficult for students. The weather hasn't quite broken, students haven't had a long break in awhile (although the snow/cold days helped), and they begin to go a little stir crazy. We will continue to reiterate and teach our PRIDE expectations at school. It would be very helpful if you could assist us in reminding your children of the importance of following the rules, making safe choices, and working to make positive contributions to our school.
Let's have a great week!
Mike Griffen & Monica Cooney

Senate Bill 288 - Erin's Law
As a part of Senate Bill 288 (SB 288), school districts must provide students in grades kindergarten through six developmentally appropriate instruction on child sexual abuse prevention, including information on available counseling and resources for children who may experience abuse. To meet the requirements of the law, our school counselors will be teaching lessons to our K-5 students from a supplemental component of our Second Step program, Child Protective Unit.
Concepts that will be included are:
Gr. K & 1 - The Always Ask First Rule
Gr. 2 & 3 - Safe & Unsafe Touches
Gr. 4 & 5 - Keeping Yourself Safe
If you do not wish for your child to participate in the child protection curriculum, please sign and return the opt-out form (linked below) by March 24th.
For Our Families that Celebrate Ramadan
We want to inform you about an important religious observance coming up and how our school is supporting our diverse community.
What is Ramadan?
Ramadan is a holy month in the Islamic calendar. During this time, many Muslim families fast from dawn to sunset. This means they don't eat or drink during daylight hours. Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, increased charity, and spending time with family and friends.
How Our School is Supporting Students Observing Ramadan
We understand that some of our students may be participating in Ramadan fasting. To support these students, we will be providing an alternative space in the office or atrium during lunch. This space will offer:
A comfortable area away from food
Quiet activities such as coloring and reading
Supervision by school staff
Students observing Ramadan are welcome to use this space if they prefer not to be around food during meal times. Participation is completely optional. We believe this arrangement will help create an inclusive environment for all our students while respecting religious practices. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.
Take Home Meals
Additionally, Strongsville City Schools is pleased to offer take home meals to our students who observe Ramadan. Meals will be provided on school days only from March 1st-March 30th. One breakfast and one lunch per student. Meals must be ordered in advance and picked up by the student observing Ramadan. Meals will be charged according to the student's meal status (Free/ Reduced/ Paid). To sign up, please use the form below.
Alternative Space & Take Home Meals - Request Form
For adequate staffing purposes, please let us know if you’d like your child to have this option during Ramadan by inputting their name .
Thank you for your support in making our school a welcoming place for everyone!
