Principal's Message

Hello Cheston Cougar Families and Friends!

This is it!! We are finally coming back to school!! We are so excited to have all of you back in school. We have worked very hard this summer to make this year a great year!

Mrs. Gaumer and I are going to be working hard on 3 goals for this school year.

1) Communication. We want to be sure to up our communication with all stakeholders

2) Teacher pedagogy. We will be working with the teachers to be sure they are getting the most from their students.

3) MTSS. This is a system where all students will be given the proper differentiation they need to be successful in all areas. (You will hear much more about this in the future).

Honestly, we are extremely pumped for this school year! We cannot wait until Monday to see all of our Cougars!!!

Rest up and have a wonderful final weekend of summer!!

Mr. Yanders and Mrs. Gaumer

NURSES NOOK (Mrs.Biggs)

Welcome Back to School! I am excited to begin another school year. Please know that I am here to support your family. Please call, email, or stop in with any questions or concerns. If your child has had a change in health status, please let me know as soon as possible so that I can provide any nursing support they may need.

A couple of reminders:

Physical exam reports are required for all new students. An exam done within the past year can be accepted. All physical exam reports are requested no later than October 1. If you need help to access this service for your student, please let me know and I can try to help you.

Dental exam reports are required for all students in grades K/1, 3 and 7. An exam done within one year of the required grade can be accepted.

If your child needs Medication During School Hours please follow EASD medication policy as described in the student handbook. If you have questions or need assistance, please reach out to me. Remember, for safety reasons, children are not permitted to carry medication to/from school. An adult must deliver medication to the school nurse for administration. I will be accepting medication with completed Medication Authorization forms at our Open House evening on August 25.

Important Health Forms can be found on the Cheston Website. Select “Our School” then select “Health Room”. Links to the forms are towards the bottom of the page.

Monitoring Health and Illness Trends: I monitor student health and illness trends closely. If your child is feeling sick, please keep them home from school. If you need guidance in deciding if your child is well enough to come to school, you may call me in the morning and we can talk it through. I am in my office by 8:05 each morning unless I am attending a meeting. You can leave a message on my phone if I do not answer and I will call you back as soon as possible.

I hope that you have had a healthy and relaxing summer. I am looking forward to seeing you all again very soon!
