A Message from the Principal

Thank you to all who came out for parent-teacher conferences. I know it is hard to schedule time to talk to your Middle School Students' teachers when they have multiple ones. We appreciate the effort and partnership we have with our families!

Parents, please make sure you have checked your email for information on how to access your students' 24-25 State Assessment Scores.

If you have not paid fees for girls' basketball or for boys' wrestling, they are on Skyward now, so you are able to pay them online.

Student Leadership Team Student Leadership Team

These past few weeks, students have had the opportunity to apply for our Student Leadership Team. We did things a bit differently this year, as it will be building-wide and will not be a class.

Teachers discussed with students what the application process would look like, what the Student Leadership Team would do, etc. Students who wanted to apply needed to find a staff member who would serve as their mentor; from there, the mentor and the student would work together to complete the application, and then the mentor would help the student prep for their interview with me.

On Tuesday and Wednesday last week, students participated in interviews.

We want to thank all of the students for working so hard and taking the time to apply, while I would love to have all 44 students that applied on the Student Leadership Team, that just isn't possible, as we want to have small numbers that represent each grade level.

Congratulations to this years Student Leadership Team Members Congratulations to this years Student Leadership Team Members

School-Based Mental Health Services

Just a reminder that we offer mental health services through The Guidance Center, right here in our school building. This is a wonderful resource to help support students as they navigate the growth and changes that come with the middle school years.

If you’re interested in learning more or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at Payton.Andrews@usd340.org.

Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) Student Survey

Over the past two weeks, students in 6th and 8th grade whose families opted in through enrollment paperwork participated in the Kansas Communities That Care (KCTC) Survey. This anonymous survey is given to students across Kansas each year and helps schools and communities better understand students’ perspectives on topics such as school climate, peer relationships, and health-related behaviors.

The information collected helps us identify strengths and areas where we can continue to support our students’ well-being and sense of connection at school.

Character Strong:

We’ve continued our focus on kindness and anti-bullying through our CharacterStrong social-emotional learning lessons. Students have learned how to define, recognize, and report bullying through thoughtful discussions and hands-on activities that help build empathy and respect for others.

We have had lots of fun recognizing and celebrating great character. Students can be nominated by teachers or classmates for showing kindness, leadership, or other strong character traits. Each month during our class meetings, we take time to recognize and celebrate these students in front of their peers.

Elective Selections

Students in grades 6-8 have been asked to utilize a google form in google classroom to select elective choices for next semester. If you wish, please take time to review your students elective choices with them and ensure they have provided their choices.
