From the Principal... Matt Clark
Good evening Thompson parents and guardians. As we enter into the second semester of this school year, we also begin planning for next school year. That is why the only message this week pertains to exploratory course selection for the 2026–2027 school year. Emails are being sent this evening at 4:30PM to our current 6th and 7th grade families with all of the information, links, and forms needed to review options and submit selections by Friday, January 23rd—while our 8th graders are already deep into high school planning, This process is an important next step for our 6th and 7th grade students as we build next year’s schedule.
Thank you for your partnership, and have a wonderful weekend!
Bear Down & Roll Thunder!
Dr. Matt Clark
Thompson Principal
✍🏻 Notes from the Front Office
State-Mandated Health Lessons Beginning January 13th
Dear TMS Families,
This message serves as a gentle reminder regarding the upcoming state-mandated Health lessons that will take place during students’ PE/Health classes beginning January 13.
As previously shared, students will participate in lessons focused on Mental Health Awareness, including recognizing signs of suicide, and Erin’s Law, which provides age-appropriate sexual abuse prevention education. These lessons will be led by a member of our Student Support Services Team (counselors, social workers, psychologists) and co-facilitated with a wellness (PE/Health) teacher.
The purpose of these lessons is to help students build awareness, learn how to seek help for themselves or others, and understand the trusted resources available to them. All instruction follows district guidelines and Illinois state requirements.
Illinois School Code allows parents and guardians to have their student opt out of specific content. If you choose to opt your student out of a particular lesson, please complete the Curriculum Opt Out Form within one week after receiving this letter. If you have questions or would like to discuss the content further, please feel free to reach out to the school.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting the health and well-being of our students.
Sincerely,
TMS Administration

Happy New Year!
The beginning of a new year has so much to offer. A new year brings a fresh start with new opportunities to learn, grow and challenge ourselves. In mathematics, this is a great time to reflect on all that we have learned and accomplished so far and set meaningful goals for the months ahead of us.
Whether we are making a goal to improve our fact fluency, problem solving strategies, and/or improving our homework completion, all steps count. Just remember, if you make mistakes, they are not setbacks. Making mistakes is a huge part of the learning process and can sometimes lead to the best outcomes.
Let’s move into 2026 with curiosity, persistence, and a positive mindset.Let’s make clear and attainable goals staying focused and committed to what we want to achieve. Wishing everyone a great new year with new adventures and so much success!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Zitella
***Shout-Out to all of our students for returning to school with a positive mindset and a successful goal in mind.
Math Tip: Visualize word problems, underline key information, and connect math to real life when solving problems. This builds both understanding and confidence.

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!
We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!
Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.
Here’s how to pitch in:
Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!
Bring them to school all year long.
Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!
Let's pull together and make a difference!
📆 Community Events
This awesome dance party is a public event and will take place in the small gymnasium at St. Charles North High School. The Project Dance proceeds support organizations within our district and our community that involve individuals with Special Needs. We provide a safe and comfortable environment where anyone and everyone is invited, no special attire is needed!
Interested in a new challenge?

Gymnasts, cheerleaders, and athletes of all kinds are perfect candidates to try out and join the team, but no prior diving experience is required — beginners are welcome! Athletes will learn proper technique in a safe, supportive environment led by experienced coaches. Practices are at the Norris Recreation Center and St. Charles North High School based on the group. Spots for lessons, diving team and high school team are available! Registration is open through all of January, so make sure you get signed up by going to the St. Charles Aquatics Website or reaching out to Coach Andrew with questions.
