REGION 10 SOCIAL STUDIES SUPPORT
July 2020
Happy (Belated) 4th of July!
It is hard to believe that we have reached the middle of the summer. I hope that you are enjoying your summer and are anxiously waiting for school districts to make final decisions for the upcoming school year. In whatever capacity that ends up looking like, I know that our students are better for the work and preparation that you do for them. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing many of you in weekly webinar trainings from Region 10.
Also, a heartfelt thank you goes out to those that joined us on June 23rd for our first annual Metroplex Social Studies Conference. We were so pleased with the outcome! We had a grand total of 320 educators from districts throughout the Region 10 and Region 11 areas. A special thank you goes to our three Keynote speakers Keith Hyndshaw from the DBQ Project, Charlotte Decoster and Claire Robinson from the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum and Janie Worst and Dr. Jim Calvi from Texas Law Related Education. In addition, I would like to thank all of our breakout group presenters.
Please do not hesitate to ever reach out with questions, concerns, ideas or training needs.
