Dear Parents and Guardians,
Recently your child attended a presentation and learned about the instruments offered for study next school year. I encourage you to discuss the presentation together with your child and determine if they are interested in joining the music program. Students who participate in Instrumental music are expected to bring their instrument to weekly lessons and any rehearsals we may have. Joining the program comes with a commitment to practice and attend all concerts. Students who repeatedly forget to bring in instruments or do not practice may be dropped from the program. If you would like your child to study an instrument, it is important that you register now. Students received sign up envelopes which can still be sent in!
Once registered your child must have a working instrument. There are several music stores in the area that sell and rent instruments. The NASD Music Department works closely with Lösers Music. They will deliver instruments for your child directly to the school. Their website is www.losersmusic.com and their phone number is 1-800-522-2600. Of course you may contact any music store you wish. I do not encourage anyone to purchase instruments for beginners, but sometimes that is the most cost effective decision. Please be careful about buying from Amazon, Ebay, or warehouse stores. These retailers sometimes sell instruments that cannot be tuned or which are missing parts. Not surprisingly these instruments are difficult if not impossible to play, and lead to frustration causing many students to quit before they have ever really had a chance to succeed. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about purchasing an instrument.
If renting an instrument is not an option for your family, NASD has a limited number of instruments available to loan your child for a fee of $30 for the school year. If you wish to use one of the school’s instruments the $30 fee must be returned in an envelope with your registration form. We prefer payment by check or money order.

Recientemente su estudiante asistió a una presentación y aprendió sobre los instrumentos que se ofrecen próximo año. Los animo a que hablen sobre la presentación junto a sus hijos y determinen si están interesados en unirse al programa de música. Se espera que los estudiantes que participan en música instrumental traigan sus instrumentos a las lecciones semanales y a los ensayos que lleguemos a tener. Al unirse al programa se está comprometiendo a practicar y asistir a todos los conciertos. Los estudiantes que constantemente olvidan traer sus instrumentos o no practican, pueden ser sacados del programa. Si quiere que su hijo estudie un instrumento, es importante que se registre ahora. Por favor complete el formulario de la parte de abajo y regreselo a más tardar el 30 de mayo de 2026. Ningún estudiante será registrado hasta que se reciba el pago.
