Caragher's Corner
Hey GBS Parents/Guardians,
Another very busy week here at GBS. 8th Grade field trips, 5th grade special visitor Percy Hill, D and D Masters special visit, Cross Country, NHDI Dancing, Soccer, and the list goes on and on!
We do have the NWEA assessment coming up next week and the week after. These assessments provide our school with information on how we are doing in meeting their learning needs. It provides us with important information that helps us to maximize our efforts to meet them where they are at and continue to grow.
Many parents have asked over the years, "What can I do?" Please:
- Encourage your student to try their best
- Make sure they get a good night's rest
- Grab a bite to eat in the morning
- Tell them to take the assessment seriously
Thank you again for all that you are doing to help us as we work with your student to make the most of their GBS experience!
Sincerely,
Adam Caragher

Note from Mrs. Gourlay
Hello, 5th Grade Families!
We will be using the Second Step Bullying Prevention curriculum in the 5th grade classes, beginning on Friday, September 27th. The Second Step program teaches children important skills for getting along with others and doing well in school. In this unit, your child will learn specific skills to help stop bullying. Students will learn how to:
• Recognize when bullying is happening, report bullying to a caring adult, and refuse to let bullying happen
• Be a bystander who helps stop bullying
• Support someone being bullied by standing up for that person and being kind and inclusive
• Recognize, report, and refuse cyber-bullying when they see or know about it happening
Our staff are an important part of bullying prevention, and can recognize and respond to bullying as well as use strategies that support a positive school and classroom climate.
We encourage you to talk with your child and ask them what they are learning about preventing bullying. Give them the clear message that it is never okay to bully others, and to ask for help if they or someone else is being bullied. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thank you for helping us make our school a safe, respectful place where everyone can learn!
Regards,
Laura Gourlay, School Counselor
Note from our Lunch Staff
As crazy as it may sound, we would really appreciate it if you could give your student small denomination/bills ($1's and $5's) if they are paying cash for their meals or extras. Don't forget that you can also put the funds on your students ID card by giving cash or check as well as through the online portal at linqconnect.com.
Thank you!
