What do I do if I am coming in late?
All students who arrive to North after 7:45 AM will be required to sign in with attendance using the chromebooks located in the attendance vestibule. This includes students who have morning Harkness, have permanent late arrival on their schedules, students returning from an appointment, and any student who just arrives late.
Early Dismissal / Late Arrival Procedures for Parents of Juniors and Seniors
New York Education Law requires that each student in grades 9-12 attend school for 5 ½ hours each day. To ensure compliance, students will not be able to obtain late arrival after the start of 3rd period or an early release until after 7th period. Early releases were approved by parents and the school during the scheduling process. Early release and late arrivals are not guaranteed.
Late Arrival
Students must sign in at the Attendance Office upon arrival to school to be marked present for the school day.
If a student arrives before passing time of their first class, they should report to the Junior Cafe until the end of the mod.
Late arrival students must park in the Hopkins Road Parking Lot, only Morning Harkness students are permitted to park in the horseshoe parking lot.
All students who have a late arrival should enter the building through the horseshoe entrance (door #1). Failure to do so will be an automatic detention and possible loss of the late sign-in privilege.
Early Release
Students with Early Release should exit the building by the start of the first mod of their Early Release
Students may only remain in the building if they have a scheduled meeting with a teacher.
A student may report to the library during their Early Release but they must arrive within the first two minutes of the mod.
Students should be aware that the bell-to-bell Distraction Free School Zone policy is in effect from 7:45-2:45. Students who are in the building for any reason during their late arrival or early release period are not permitted to use their cell phone.
Please Note
Chronic abuse/misuse of these privileges will result in the removal of such privileges. If a student is failing one or more classes, they will be encouraged to take advantage of a study hall in place of the early release.

Dropping Items Off
If you must drop off an item for your child, please bring it to the main entrance on Dodge Road. Please ensure the item is labeled with the student’s name. For your convenience, post-it notes are available in our attendance lobby. For sanitary reasons, we ask that any clothing items or shoes be placed in a bag before dropping these items off.
Please note that we do not allow food deliveries to students, whether through services like DoorDash, restaurant deliveries, or even from family members. With over 1,300 students, managing individual deliveries becomes unmanageable and disrupts the school day. Additionally, we do not interrupt academic classes for non-emergencies such as drop-offs (sports equipment, instruments, class materials).
Visitors to North
All District Buildings, including North, are using the RAPTOR system to sign visitors in/out. All visitors must enter the building at the entrance on Dodge Road. Please be prepared to show Government ID, such as a valid driver's license, upon entering North. We will scan your ID and issue a visitors badge to be worn for the duration of your visit.
Morning Drop Off and Pickup Procedures
Parents are asked to please drop their child(ren) off in the morning and pick their students up in the afternoon via the Hopkins Road parking lot. Please see below for a diagram. Thank you!
Required Parent Program Video
The Required Parent Program video must be viewed in its entirety by parents/guardians prior to any student (grades 9-12) attending any North High School dances/events. This includes Homecoming activities/dances taking place in Late September and Early October. Please note that your completion of the Required Parent Program is valid for 4 years. For example, if you have already viewed the program anytime in the last 4 years on behalf of an older sibling, you will not be asked to view the program again this year. The program should be viewed on a desktop/laptop, and cannot be paused or fast-forwarded to receive credit. If you have any questions about this program, or your current status with regard to viewing it, please reach out to the North Main Office at 626-8504.
HEALTH OFFICE
Medication Drop Off Procedures
All medication, including non-prescription medication, must have a written order from the student's physician or licensed prescriber and must be dated 7/1/26 or later.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION must be in the container prepared by the pharmacist with the original label specifying the name and strength of the medication. (Note: the pharmacy label does not constitute a written order and cannot be used in lieu of a written order from a licensed prescriber.)
NON-PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION must be in the original and sealed manufacturer's container with the student's name affixed to the container. ALL medication must be delivered directly to the school nurse by the parent or guardian. No student is permitted to carry non-emergency medication on the bus. Medication orders must be renewed annually and whenever there is any change.
Required forms were emailed to families in early June by our School Nurse, Mrs. Vertino. Completed forms must be returned to school when dropping off medication, or can be faxed in advance by your child's doctor to 716-626-8582.
Before dropping off medications to school, a phone call to our school nurse is required. Mrs. Vertino can be reached at 716-626-8525.

The New York State Department of Health has provided school districts with swim tips regarding drowning prevention, water safety and safe and healthy swimming.
