Principal's Message: Integrity
On Friday, we held our final 3rd–5th grade Community Meeting Assembly of the school year. These assemblies are always such a fun way to come together as a school community, celebrate our students, and recognize the amazing things happening at Mt. Vernon.
During the assembly, we recognized our OBOB winners for their hard work, teamwork, and dedication to reading. We also celebrated students who have demonstrated Integrity, one of our core character traits, by presenting them with certificates. I continue to be so proud of our students for the positive way they support one another and represent our school each day. T
We Value Your Feedback – Family Survey
We are seeking your input on how Mt. Vernon is doing and would greatly appreciate your feedback. We are asking families to complete a short survey that will take approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
Your responses help provide our school with valuable feedback about what we are doing well and areas where we can continue to grow and improve. Family input is incredibly important as we work to provide the best possible experience for our students and community.
You can access the survey here. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and support Mt. Vernon!
Mt. Vernon Spring Carnival
We are excited for our upcoming School Carnival on Friday, May 29 from 6:00–7:30 PM! This will be a fun-filled evening for our school community with free games, activities, and food for all families to enjoy.
We will be providing free corn dogs, popcorn, soda, and lemonade. Kona Ice and Cotton Candy will also be available for purchase during the event.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help make the carnival a success! If you are interested in helping, please sign up here.
We hope to see you there for a great evening of fun together!
Parent Input for Classroom Placement
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we value your insights about your child’s learning style, social-emotional needs, and educational environment. Our staff carefully considers many factors when creating balanced classroom groupings that support all students academically, socially, and emotionally.
Please note that we are not accepting requests for specific teachers. However, we welcome information that may help us thoughtfully place your child for success.
Please complete the Parent Input for Classroom Placement Survey by Friday, May 22.
Additionally, it is time to complete your Annual Student Review, which allows you to review and update your student’s information. You can access this through ParentVUE. If you need assistance, please contact the school office. If you know your child will not be returning to Mt. Vernon next year, please notify your child’s teacher or contact the office as soon as possible.
Spirit Day - Student/Staff Swap
Spirit Day is coming on Friday, May 22! Our theme is Student/Staff Swap Day — students can dress like staff members, and staff can dress like students. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity and have some fun together!
Early Release - Friday, May 22
This is a reminder that we will have an early release on Friday, May 22. Students will finish the school day at 12:30 p.m.
The early release allows time for important staff training and professional development in the afternoon. Thank you for making any needed arrangements to ensure your child is picked up on time.
Memorial Day - Monday, May 25
There will be no school on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. This holiday is a time to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.
We hope everyone enjoys a safe and restful long weekend with family and friends.
