CELEBRATING OUR VETERANS AT WINTHROP
Dear Winthrop Families and Caregivers,
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our annual Memorial Day Ceremony to honor our Veterans this Friday, May 22, at 10:00 a.m.
We would love to extend a warm welcome to any members of our Winthrop families who have served or are currently serving in the military; if you are a veteran or have a family member who is, please feel free to join us for this special event.
To help mark the occasion, all students are welcome to wear patriotic colors on Friday.
Please note that our fourth grade students will be performing and should come dressed in their formal concert attire. We look forward to coming together as a school community to show our deep gratitude to our veterans!
Thank You,
Winthrop Administration Team
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR WINTHROP FIELD DAY JUNE 5TH
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s that time of year again, Field Day! Field day is for Grades PreK - 5th and will take place on
Friday, June 5th with a rain date of Monday, June 8th. We are looking for parent volunteers who are interested in making field day a fun success. If you are able to help out, please complete and return the slip below to your child's classroom teacher by no later than Friday, May 29th.
Field day has been a success year after year because of the support and help we get from our parent volunteers. A volunteer's job is to be the expert at the station, to explain the rules, directions, and goals of the station. Teachers travel around with their classes and will be responsible for classroom management.
Grades: 3-5: 9:00-10:58 am (Check-in time for volunteers 8:40 am)
Grades: Pre K-2: 12:30-2:40 pm (Check-in time for volunteers 12:10 pm)
Field Day check-in time, for volunteers, is either 8:40 am or 12:10 pm in the gymnasium. You will first need to sign in at the front office. Then you will head to the gymnasium to receive station assignments, gather equipment, and learn about your station.
All school volunteers and chaperones must have an updated CORI on file with Ipswich Public Schools. Please email Mrs. Vlahos at jvlahos@ipsk12.net to check on your CORI status. If you do not have an updated CORI, please reach out to her as soon as possible, as CORI’s can take a week or more to process.
Thank you in advance! We are looking forward to a fun, educational day emphasizing teamwork and cooperation. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mr. Falconieri. E-mail is the best form of communication and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Anthony Falconieri - afalconieri@ipsk12.net
Mark Southam - msoutham@ipsk12.net

GREEN TEAM UPDATE
Thank you to FRIES for covering the costs of two new, highly durable, commercial-grade basketball hoops on the Winthrop Playground! The students can not wait for the hoops to arrive. In the meantime, thanks to these helpful second graders for removing the remains of the old, broken hoop. The space is prepped and ready for the new ones!

End of Year Celebration
We’re excited to celebrate the end of another amazing school year on Thursday, June 5 from 5–7 PM on the Winthrop Front Lawn — rain or shine! Families can enjoy Touch-a-Truck, Kona Ice, Beefie Boys, Topsfield House of Pizza, face painting, lawn games, and more.
Don’t forget to participate in our Cakes for Kids tradition! Families are invited to buy or bake a cake and drop it off at school on 6/5. Each cake donation earns 3 Tiger Tickets, which can be used for games, pizza, popcorn, Kona Ice, and more at the event.
We need volunteers to help pull off this event. Please sign up here to volunteer!
