Dear Sam Rayburn Families,

For such a short week, it has certainly been eventful—and there is much to celebrate at Sam Rayburn Middle School.

This week, I participated in Math Learning Walks and Data Dives, and I am confident that we are moving in the right direction academically. Our volleyball teams are preparing for the big tournament, with our undefeated 8th-grade team entering as the number-one seed. Football is closing out its season, and our coaches continue showing up after school and as early as 6:30 a.m. to prepare our teams and help our student-athletes improve on and off the field—“Beyond the Game.”

Our GT students are participating in field trips, and our campus is preparing for the Fall Family Festival and Academic Night. Great things are happening throughout Sam Rayburn because of the dedication of our students and staff and the continued support of our families.

As we move from good to great, we are teaching our Raiders to focus on what they can control: their attitude, effort, preparation, and response to challenges. We want them to develop determination, resilience, and a growth mindset so they can overcome the unexpected and continue moving forward.

Success may not come immediately, but through perseverance, reflection, and consistent effort, it is only a matter of time. Thank you for your partnership and for believing in the work happening at Sam Rayburn Middle School.

Our finest hour is yet to come!

Cell Phones

Under our district's "Away for the Day" policy, which is also mandated by state law, all students are required to keep their cell phones and personal electronic devices turned off and stored away during the school day. We need your partnership in ensuring our students understand this expectation and the importance of adhering to it so we can maintain a focused, distraction-free learning environment. Please see the updated changes to our Cell Phone policies.
