Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin

Greetings, CUSD Families!

It’s November, and there’s plenty of information to share and things to highlight that matter to the CUSD community.

This month, we proudly recognize Native American Heritage Month, honoring the rich histories and traditions of Indigenous peoples.

Tomorrow, November 13, we will also observe World Kindness Day. This is a great opportunity to remember that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact in our classrooms, hallways, and neighborhoods.

Yesterday, November 11, was Veterans Day. On behalf of CUSD, I would like say thank you to our veterans and their families for your courage, sacrifice, and service.

As we continue through Homeless Youth Awareness Month, CUSD will join districts across Pennsylvania for “Wear Red Day” on Thursday, November 21 to show support for students experiencing homelessness. We invite our entire community to join us by wearing red and helping raise awareness.

Lastly, I know many families are feeling the impact of the ongoing federal government shutdown and uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits. CUSD continues to compile local resources to support families, and many of these have been added to our Department of Student Success and Engagement page. Below, you will also find additional links from Chester City and the DCIU that may be helpful.

  • Chester City Food & General Resources
  • DCIU Resources
  • CUSD Additional Resources

As always, upcoming dates and reminders are included later in this e-newsletter. Thank you for staying engaged and I hope you find this edition of Clipper Connection helpful.
