Accept Responsibility: Pinney Has Heart

We had an amazing day taking care of our hearts and filling the hearts of others. Our students rotated throughout the building learning about heart healthy behaviors (nutrition and being active), created cards for classmates, crafts for others and counted donations for No Kid Fights Caner Alone. Some our our older students even learned hands-only CPR. It was a fun day taking care of ourselves and our community.

Overall our school community collected:

Pencils - 1398

Dry Erase Markers - 139

Index Cards - 67 packages (6948 index cards)

Markers - 51 boxes (630 markers)

Pens - 759

Colored Pencils - 59 boxes (1000 colored pencils)

Erasers - 296

Gluesticks - 576

Highlighters - 382

Rulers - 58

Crayons - 130 boxes

Scissors - 172

Total of over 4000 school supplies!

We raised $700 in gift cards to donate as well.

3rd, 4th and 5th graders made 7 boxes of heart crafts that are going to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Nationwide Childrens, and local nursing homes to brighten their spaces!

Reminder: Communicable Diseases and Exclusion

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) recently reported the state’s first measles case of 2024 near Dayton, Ohio. While there are not any cases local to DCS at this time, we want to remind parents that any child in an affected school who cannot show proof of two properly administered measles vaccinations must be excluded from school attendance until such proof is provided. Children with written waivers or exemptions will be excluded for 21 days after the onset of the last known case in the affected school.
