Scoil Mhuire Navan Newsletter
October 2026
We are delighted to present the new colourful newsletter design for our Scoil Mhuire school community. Our newsletters will showcase some of the amazing teaching and learning that takes place in our school, along with extra-curricular activities and exciting news. We hope you enjoy it!
New School Crest
Our Student Council recently led an exciting whole-school competition to design a new school crest for Scoil Mhuire.
Every pupil was invited to create a design that would represent the wonderful things happening throughout the school. We wanted our new crest to reflect what makes Scoil Mhuire such a special place- our love of sport, learning, achievement, celebrating diversity, and most importantly, learning and growing together.
The Student Council played an important role in the process and carefully considered all of the entries and finalists. We are delighted to announce that the winning design has now become our new school crest and is proudly featured on our school uniform.
Our Wonderful School Spaces
Our beautiful Junior Hall, where our younger classes have PE, movement breaks, assemblies and group games with other classes and parents.
Our Main Hall: Some of our senior classes participating in a Maths Quiz during Maths Week.
We have Wellbeing displays throughout the school to show how it is embedded in our school culture.
Junior Infants went camping in their classroom last month!
Our School Playground
Happy Retirement Lorraine!
New Yard Project News
Last year, our school was chosen by the Department of Education to receive special funding to resurface our yard spaces.
During the Mid-Term break next week, the huge yard spaces at the back of our school are being resurfaced with new tarmac and line markings (thermoplastic) for new basketball courts, obstacle courses and a walking/running track. We have been waiting for these works to take place for over a year and are delighted that the children will finally have a newer, safer place to have fun during yard and PE time.
We can't wait to show you the transformation in our next newsletter!
Spooky Walk: 23rd October 2026
All of our classes participated in our annual Spooky Walk today around our school yards. There were some amazing costumes! As you can see above, some of our staff members had an eventful day also!
Safe Routes to School Approval
We are delighted to announce that our school will now be included in the safe routes to school programme.
Safety measures will include pencil bollards and road markings (colourful paint circles) outside our school. We expect that these works will take place over the coming months. We look forward to the transformation and to our roads becoming safer for our whole school community.
Thank you to all the members of our school community for slowing down when coming in and out of our school and for parking carefully during this first half term. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Sacramental Preparation
Well done to the boys and girls from 2nd and 6th classes who took part in their Communion and Confirmation Commitment Ceremonies over the past couple of weeks in St. Mary's Church.
GAA Teams
Take a look at our girls and boys GAA teams wearing our brand new school jerseys. They had a brilliant Cumann na mBunscol campaign with some great performances. Well done to all those who trained hard and represented the school so well. Huge thanks to their coaches, Ms. White, Mr. McGuinness and Mr. Burke.
Friendly Visitor
A beautiful swan visited our school at the end of the September and attracted a lot of attention. After some tlc from Gerry and Ann and a prayer from Fr. Declan, the swan managed to regain the strength to fly later that evening. Every day is interesting in Scoil Mhuire!
Maths Week 2026
We had a very successful Maths Week 2026 here in Scoil Mhuire. Thank you so much to Ms. Bailey for organising all the resources, timetables and prizes for the week. We were also delighted to see so many parents coming in for Maths games and getting involved in all the fun. Thanks everyone!
Check out some of our amazing Maths Week Art competition entries below!
Chess Club
Led by Ms. O'Shea, some of our pupils from 4th-6th classes have been busy practicing their chess skills on Tuesday afternoons. The standard is very high! They will be competing in a big chess tournament in January so we are very proud of all their efforts to date. Have a look below.
HSCL
Our HSCL (Home School Community Liaison) teacher Maria Flynn, has been very busy this term linking in with families and parents and encouraging attendance throughout our school. Well done to Ms. Geraghy's 1st class and Ms. O'Shea's 3rd class who had the best attendance for the first half-term. They earned themselves a movie and popcorn party.
We have had other weekly attendance winners who earned various awards including choosing a playlist for yard music on Friday and speaking to the whole school on the intercom!
Well done to all the boys and girls who are doing their best to be in the line by 10 past 9.
If Ms. Flynn can help you with anything, our HSCL phone number is 0868057826.
