Powers Elementary-Weekly Newsletter
August 30th
November 11-15
Hi Powers Families...
We do have school on Monday, Veterans Day. Please share the invitation below with any Veterans in our school community and encourage them to attend our walking parade through Powers at 9:30am. Music will play, students will cheer and if past practice repeats, our Veterans will leave filled with pride. See the flyer below for details. Also, remember that Wednesday the 13th is Family First Night. Teachers will not send any homework home and not tests will be scheduled for Thursday so that families can prioritize time with their children doing something fun together. Maybe have some Romeos Pizza (see flyer below) and play some games or watch a movie.
In recognition of our service Veterans we are encouraging students to join staff in wearing patriotic colors on Monday and showing unity by wearing purple to school on Wednesday for World Kindness Day.
Have a great week!

PTO Charity Event (November 18- December 7)
Our PTO wanted this year's charity event to be one that our PreK - 3 students could really take lead on and that required minimal support from adults. Children are simply asked to consider donating some change in support of people that are homeless. Grades will compete to raise the most donations so start searching under the couch cushions for spare change. Thanks for your time and consideration.
World Kindness Day
November 13th is World Kindness Day
November 13th is World Kindness Day. To celebrate, each student will be given a kindness card, sucker, and the poem shared below. Our hope is that students pass the kindness card on to a community member who may need a little extra cheer! Thank you for helping your student use their super power of Kindness 🙂
Powers Kindness Day Poem
Showing kindness is easy to do,
And it only takes a minute or two!
Keep the sucker to remind you to be “sweet”,
then pass on the card to someone you meet.
Give to your mailman, your neighbor, or cashier at the store,
your grandma, your uncle, can you think of some more?
They can keep the card or pass it on down,
Soon your kindness will spread all over our town!
