Academy Announcements

Dear Academy families and friends,

I love this time of year. While summer temperatures continued to linger longer than most Octobers I can remember, the signs are everywhere that the weather is going to shift to those colder, more typical chilly New England fall days. This past week, we celebrated our annual Pumpkins and Poems Contest and the students made such amazing exhibitions for the school to see each and every day as they made their way to lunch. We so many pumpkins this year, we had to add two extra tables. Our mystery judges had a very difficult time picking winners...they were so creative! Great job kiddos!

With the cold on the way, please be sure to have students dress for the weather and have something extra in the locker for those extra chilly days in the building. We also want to remind families of the shorter days and making sure students are not leaving too early in the morning on their way to school. Students should not arrive prior to 8:50AM and should be monitored by a parent until staff open the school doors in the morning.

As a courtesy, please remember that for families choosing to drive students to and from school, there are posted parking signs on both Candia and Sutton St. These signs are there to remind families that we have many of our students who walk to and from school every day. We need to make sure the side street parking is happening in a safe and careful way. The school will be working closely with the Weymouth Police Department to monitor the situation. Those not respecting the posted street signs may be ticketed. Thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

Last but not least, be on the lookout this week for Fall Parent/Teacher Conference Letters...they should be arriving home on November 1. We want 100% of our families to connect, so please sign up. There will be in-person meeting the night of the 14th as well as virtual meetings during the day on the 15th.

Cell phones and Smart Watches

Just a friendly reminder about cell phones and smart watches. We understand that family communication is important and that in this day and age, devices can help families stay connected. We need to make sure when these devices come into the school, they stay off and in students backpacks. During the school day, if students are always welcome to use the school phone in case they need to contact home. Watches are to be just a watch and nothing else. Please remind your children of the purpose of the device and that they are not to be used during the school day. Thank you!

Chromebooks need love too!!! Be sure to update them regular. Go to Settings>> About Chrome>> Check for updates for this device.
