Dear HEMS Families,
We are preparing for an important time of year at Huntington East Middle School—our upcoming WVGSA (West Virginia General Summative Assessment) testing. These assessments provide valuable insight into your child’s academic progress and help guide our instruction to best support student success.
Testing Schedule:
- April 28 – Math (Grades 6, 7, 8)
- April 30 – Reading (Grades 6, 7, 8)
- May 5 – Writing (Grades 6, 7, 8)
- May 6 – Science (Grade 8; Grades 6 & 7 optional for virtual/homeschool students)
Testing Times:
- Traditional Students: Regular school hours
- Virtual and homeschool students should also report at 8:00 AM on their scheduled testing day.
We encourage all students to come prepared and ready to do their best. You can help your child by ensuring they:
- Charge their iPad each night
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Eat a healthy breakfast before school
Your support plays a vital role in helping our students feel confident and prepared. We are proud of the hard work our HEMS Bears have shown all year, and we know they are ready to shine!
