Mill Hall Elementary
Keystone Central School District
Notes From Dr. Breon
The winter months are thought by some to be dark and dreary. In an effort to keep things bright and cheery, the Mill Hall Elementary Staff has been working hard to keep kindness as our focus through fun and exciting ways.
- During the month of December students were taught specific lessons on ways to show kindness by "Being Friendly", "Offering Help", "Reaching Out", and "Showing Appreciation".
- Students have reached out in making donations to the food banks, the local SPCA, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace (who makes beds for children without them).
- They have generated hundreds of ways in which they can be friendly to others by reaching out with support and help.
We also enjoyed some Reindeer games and a school-wide sing-a-long led by Mrs. Poole, during the month of December.
Our School-wide Positive Behavior Support Award for December included a school-wide Holiday BINGO. In January, we celebrated student positive behavior with a Game Day, bringing smiles to many faces.
Our STEM classes have been working hard with Mrs. Marasco to construct snowmen in some creative ways in the last month.
Attendance to school not only supports a child's academic success, but also contributes largely to their social/emotional well being. As we celebrated Attendance Counts month in January, we want to thank you for making your child(ren)'s attendance to school a priority.
Your partnership with us counts! Thank you for your ongoing support!

Federal Programs
February Federal Programs Updates
All elementary schools conducted full school assessment screenings of math and reading progress in January. Our intervention teams use this information to update WIN groups (What I Need), and from what we are seeing so far, our students are growing rapidly!
On December 6th, elementary schools sent home progress reports to keep families updated on student progress. All families in all schools should have received Quarter 1 report cards in November. If you did not receive the report card for Quarter 1, please contact your child's school secretary.
At all school levels, we use Title IV federal funds to purchase incentives for PBIS (our positive school-wide behavior supports) rewards, and we emphasize the goal of following school rules in all schools.

Family Connections
#KeystoneCares: February is for Family
A Note from our Instructional Coach: Mrs. Reeder
Family and school partnerships are essential for helping students achieve at their maximum potential and while parent and community involvement has always been a cornerstone of public schools, greater recognition and support of these collaborative efforts is needed. ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The faculty and staff of KCSD encourage parents to send their student to school everyday in order to achieve academic success!
If your student is absent, all parent excuses or medical excuses must be received by the office within 3 days after they return. Excuses can be emailed to: mhattendance@kcsd.k12.pa.us
If you are concerned about your student's attendance, please reach out to your student's school counselor.
