QE Parent/Guardian Weekly Update
October 10, 2026
Hello QE Families!
It has been another wonderful week filled with lots of learning and plenty of QE PRIDE. Last week, we celebrated National Custodian Appreciation Week by honoring our amazing custodial team with a "bucket filled with thanks"—a small token of our huge appreciation for everything they do to keep our school clean, safe, and welcoming.
In our classrooms, our school counselor, Mrs. Bruchak continued her classroom visits to lead our Second Step Bullying Prevention lessons, helping our students build kindness and empathy every day. We’ve also had fun kicking off our QE PRIDE "experience" rewards! I had the privilege of enjoying a special lunch with a group of our student winners this week. Sitting down to share conversation and laughter with them was a true highlight for me, and it’s always inspiring to see so many of our students showing what it means to shine with QE PRIDE.
We have a non-instructional day on Monday so we will see our students again on Tuesday!

Dr. B’s Top 3 Showing Pride at QE
Each week, Dr. Bubser was looking for QE Pride (Perseverance, Respect, Control, Dependability, and Effort). Check out the top three from last week!
I got to join Mrs. Bruchak for her 3rd grade bullying lesson. I noticed Gabby in Mrs. Held’s class doing an exceptional job participating in the lesson. She listened and she offered great answers. Thank you, Gabby, for showing respect and dependability during this very important lesson about treating everyone with kindness.
I’m excited to share that Joshua in Mrs. Yerger’s class showed amazing compassion and respect for a friend at recess to make sure he was okay. He asked him to play and was so incredibly kind. What a perfect example of QE PRIDE with showing respect and dependability.
Let’s hear it for Elijah in 4th grade. When I asked Mrs. Coggins which QE PRIDE letter he was showing, she said, “Hmm.. ALL of them!” Thank you Elijah for showing all kinds of QE PRIDE in all kinds of ways. You are a rockstar!
Security Drill
Similar to last year, QCSD schools will conduct practice drills of our “Run, Hide, Fight” emergency response procedures. On Tuesday, October 13th we will practice the evacuation response. Since it is a drill, we will practice evacuating to an off-site location in an orderly and organized manner (walking). Our approach to this drill is designed to be age-appropriate and calm. Before the drill begins, we will review the concepts—which focus on specific, actionable steps students can take to stay safe. We will emphasize the importance of following the directions of teachers and staff members. Officer Hendrzak and Officer Lee, QCSD School Resource Officers, will help facilitate the drill. To start the drill, teachers will secure their room and guide their students to evacuate the building and walk to our off-site rally point, where we will gather safely. Should we need to use the rally point for an actual emergency, we also have plans in place to transport students to our district reunification point. Students and staff will be walking a short distance to a nearby location under the supervision of the school staff, Officer Hendrzak, and Officer Lee.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school a safe environment for learning.
Arrival Procedures
We continue to improve our procedures to maximize safety and efficiency. Thank you for all your help and support. This is a reminder to those who drop students off from their cars in the morning. Drop-off occurs in the front of the building for car riders. Please do not drop off in the back. The back parking lot is reserved for buses and staff parking.
We Want to Hear From You!
As part of our ongoing effort to support our QE students and families, we are asking parents/guardians to complete a brief survey. Your feedback helps us determine how we share information, identify areas of strength, and better understand ways we can continue to improve our support for students and families.
Please click the link below to complete the survey. It should only take a few minutes, and your input is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for partnering with us to support our students and strengthen our school community!

QE students are taught to persevere, show respect, be in control, show dependability, and show effort in all school and life endeavors. We believe every child is a valued and treasured member of our school family. You can trust that we are fully committed to ensuring your child feels respected, safe, and supported in their growth. When families, educators, staff, and students work hand-in-hand, we create the strongest path for our children to thrive and achieve their highest potential.
