Dear District 95 Families,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! I hope this first few weeks of school has gone well for all of you. Back-to-school is always an amazing time of year for educators as our school buildings come to life with the joy and energy of our students and staff, working together to learn, grow, and experience new opportunities both academically and socially. I hope you enjoy the many back-to-school photos below...the rain did not stop the smiles!

Sadly, there has also been tragedy in the national news already this school year with yet another senseless school shooting, this time in Georgia and another in Nebraska. Safety is our top priority in District 95, and we have well established, practiced, and continually reviewed safety protocols. But, as we remind everyone regularly, safety is everyone's responsibility, and we rely on all people in our learning community to be responsible reporters of any concerning, suspicious behavior through the Safe2Help hotline or any trusted school official. It truly takes a community working together to create the safest possible learning environment.

Please be sure to read the entire newsletter - there are some new features, including an article series featuring a different Board of Education member each month, as well as information about Open House Lake Zurich Area, an upcoming opportunity to see inside our schools through guided tours.

Best wishes for continued success in the 2024-25 school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kelley Gallt

Superintendent

Sip 'n Chat

This year, in conjunction with the District 95 Board of Education and administration, I am starting a new initiative called “Sip ‘n Chat” where up to two Board members, one or more administrators, and I will be available at various locations in the community for people to drop in for conversations relating to our school district. We will have key people on hand who are subject matter experts in particular areas, but discussions are not restricted to only that topic. We hope to have room for up to 20-25 people at one time, though it is also fine to come and go – I hope you will consider stopping by for a cup of coffee and a chat! The fall dates for Sip ‘n Chat are below, additional dates will be communicated later this fall and will include some evening and midday timeframes.

Save the date! On Saturday, December 14th, District 95 will host "Open House Lake Zurich Area" which will provide an opportunity for community members to sign up for a guided tour of our district schools. A Letter from Board President, Doug Goldberg

Dear District 95 Community,

My amazing wife Jennifer and I have lived in Lake Zurich since 1992. We are blessed to have three incredible children, Melissa (Class of 2016), Rachel (Class of 2018), and Joshua (Class of 2018) who attended K-12 in District 95. I’m proud to say they are all wonderful adults, having been shaped significantly by their experience in District 95 classrooms. I recently retired from my position as chief engineer for a major Aerospace company and now consult for the Department of Defense as well as my former employer. I am passionate about providing our community members with the best possible educational experience including non-traditional pathways.

I have had the distinct privilege of serving on the Board of Education since 2009 and am honored to currently serve as your board President. I’d like to share the exciting news about the recent successful completion of our Forward 95 referendum projects. These projects were a cornerstone of our district’s vision for the future, aiming to enhance learning environments and ensuring that our students have the facilities needed to thrive in a modern educational landscape. We not only completed these projects on time but also under budget—a significant achievement that reflects the dedication and careful planning by our district teams. Through diligent oversight and strategic decision-making, we maximized the impact of our community resources while delivering state-of-the-art improvements to all of our schools. We will be celebrating this with open-house events across the district in December.

The new Empower 95 initiative continues to exemplify our commitment to improving the educational experience for all learners. However, our vision for the district extends beyond facilities. At the core of our mission is a deep commitment to fostering equity and inclusion across all aspects of our schools. We believe that every learner—regardless of background, identity, or ability—deserves access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This is why equity and inclusion remain central to every decision we make.

We have just initiated a series of Sip 'n Chat events across the community where the Superintendent, myself and another board member will have the opportunity to discuss topics of interest with community members over coffee. I hope to see you at one these. I am excited for the future of District 95 and grateful for your continued support.
