Rainy Marion Relays Caps Week of Competition

On Saturday, the Red Devils weathered the storm and competed at Marion Relays. With some missing pieces out of play for the day, the Devils had a tough finish as a team, but also some highlights. The girls 4x100 meter relay of KK Hogg, KK Farris-Craig, Katie Mathena, and Lily Vanlandingham dropped 1.5 seconds and finished first overall at a highly-competitive relay meet. The distance team saw PR after PR. And Jacob Lindahl continued his hot streak, winning the shot put with a 53-footer. There were plenty more successes, and the results of that meet can be found at crossroadstiming.com.

This week is a good training week, with only one meet on Saturday (and a couple of long-distance runners heading to Carmel on Friday for a showcase meet). We want to draw attention to next week, however. Senior night kicks off 5:30 PM on Tuesday, and athletes should bring any notebooks and senior boards that they want to have on display by 4:00 PM. That should be a big night, but we immediately follow it by hosting a middle school meet, then an away meet the next day, and a home throwers-only meet on Friday. This is definitely a scheduling concern that we plan to look at for the future, but please bear with us next week. There are a lot of moving parts that we will need to try to keep together.

Middle School Home Meet - 4-Way

While we know this will be a very busy week, we need athletes to stay after practice and help time and run the field events. Because it is a four-way meet, this is extremely important not to mess up on the timing and scoring.

1st Annual Richmond Throwcase

This one is HUGE. This is our chance to start a really cool tradition around the throwing legacy of Richmond. Athletes will need to be on hand to work concessions and cheer for their teammates. We do not anticipate this being a very long meet, roughly 90 minutes to 2 hours. We will talk more about this at practice this week.

Senior Night

All seniors must fill out this Google Form so that we can get the script ready for the announcer. The sooner we get this done, the better, because this is a very, very busy week for us.

Parent Snack Sign-Ups

Here is the link to the ongoing snack sign-up for this week's and all future meets. Please help us out by not accidentally editing anyone else's response. Having everyone's responses visible to each other seemed like the best possible method for handling this to make sure we don't accidentally over-cover or under-cover a meet. Friday's meet at Carmel is not a meet we need snacks at. Saturday at Eaton is not covered yet. Sincere thanks to everyone who has helped us out so far!

Attendance Policy

Track athletes are expected to be at practice Monday through Friday each week. Athletes should be communicating with their jobs about their schedule changes. A full schedule of track meets will be made available as soon as possible. If an athlete cannot make it to practice, communication is required. An athlete will receive three excused absences, after which they will meet with a coach about their attendance and further action will be determined. Parents and athletes can reach out to Coach Lambright via the Google Voice number (765) 205-2647.

Meet Schedule

The only other meet that is not on this list right now is the Carmel Distance Showcase, a 3200-meter only event that we will take at most 5 athletes to.

We are no longer looking for a meet on April 12th and do not expect the Union City 4-way that they were trying to put together to happen.

ParentSquare is our Official Contact Method

All parent contact should come through ParentSquare. If you are not on the ParentSquare feed for RHS track and field, please reach out to Coach Lambright at your earliest convenience. We will no longer be using Remind as Richmond Community Schools has moved to streamline parent communication and help parents not have ten different apps on their phones.

SportsYou Will Function as an Information Hub

While we would love to live in a world where we assume everyone will see all of our messages, we will continue to post workout plans and calendar events on SportsYou, something the cross country athletes and parents will be familiar with. You can join using the QR code on this paragraph, or by going to SportsYou.com and entering the code QYH8-WB4S. This will serve as a backup, always present information center, but all information on there will be duplicated here. The goal is to have one app that is always up to date, even when the next newsletter is a few days away.
