RHS Trap Team

Any Romeo High School students interested in joining the Romeo High School 2026 Trap Team, registration begins February 3rd. Please see the attached link for details: Trap Information . Any questions can be addressed by emailing shelly.bartolotta@romeok12.org.

Project WarmUp

SERVE and NHS are working with a former Romeo student to support a charity he has started called Project WarmUp. The goal of this organization is to provide warmth to children in need during our cold Michigan winters. We are looking for gently used (and cleaned) coats, gloves/mittens, scarves, boots, and hats (child and adult sizes). There will be donation boxes in both buildings - across from the media center at RHS and room 206 at 9GA. Please bring in your donations no later than February 6. Please contact Mrs. Gedert (pamela.gedert@romeok12.org) with questions. Thank you for your support!

Academies at Romeo

Health Science Pathway students, who have two registered nurses and two certified EMT’s for instructors, are gaining insight, guidance and mentoring from an additional and unlikely source. Through a collaboration with Oakland University, every week 6-10 Oakland nursing students spend their day at Romeo High School. They arrive at 7:30 am, spend their day assisting, explaining and facilitating in the classrooms, and then meet and debrief after the school day. This arrangement is a win-win situation for all involved. OU students get to practice collaboration and communication skills while reinforcing and sharing their knowledge. RHS students gain valuable insights into available jobs and the education required for a variety of careers in the healthcare field.

Counselors' Corner

RHS Counseling Website

COUNSELING INTERN

Romeo High School's counseling department would like to welcome Hayley Ostlund! Hayley will be interning with the counseling department throughout the remainder of the year. She will be floating between all 4 academies: 9GA, BEI, DEM, and HHP. If you see her in the hallways, make sure to stop and say hello! Please see her message to students and families below:

"My name is Hayley Ostlund and I am a current PhD student at Oakland University. I'm so excited to make the transition from private to school counseling. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my two dogs and husband or going to a concert. I chose Romeo for my internship because of the unique structure of the academies and the amazing services that are available to students. I look forward to working alongside everyone!"

SAT Prep Workshops

Please see the flyer from the MISD regarding upcoming SAT prep. If interested, you may wish to register early as sessions fill quickly.

Scholarships

Four County is offering a new scholarship opportunity for those attending a trade school.

School Policies & Procedures

Starting a new semester is a good time to remind everyone of the school policies and procedures we have in place to keep our students safe and building running efficiently.

  • RHS & 9GA are Nut Alert Schools
  • Food and drinks are not allowed in the classrooms (ie. water only). We have seen a growing number of students stopping for some "specialty drink" (Starbucks, Tim Horton's, etc.) before school. If you choose to do this, that's totally fine. Just remember that you need to do this early enough so you can finish your beverage and still be to class on time.
  • Students are not allowed to receive outside food for lunch (this includes delivery, DoorDash, and parent drop off). Lunch is free for all students, so everyone will have food to eat.
  • Students are not allowed to go to their vehicles during the day
  • Attendance & Tardies: Students need to be in school on time, every day (unless there is a legitimate reason for an absence).

    • Attendance policy
      • Student Absence Handbook Language: As a reminder, our absence language was amended at the beginning of this school year.
      • Students must provide the main office with documentation in order for an absence to be excused.

    • Tardy policy

      • 5 tardies: Detention (high school students need to keep track of their tardies, no warnings are required for a student to receive a detention)
      • 8 tardies: Meeting with your academy principal and parent
      • 10 tardies: ISS and loss of parking pass (if applicable)
  • Personal Communication Devices
    • Cell phones are required to be stored in the classroom phone holders during the entirety of class time
    • Earbuds and SmartWatches are not to be used during class time
    • Students may only use school issued ChromeBooks (ie. personal computers are not allowed)

Reminder for Athletes

Just a reminder that semester grades directly impact athletic eligibility under MHSAA rules. Students must pass at least 6 out of 8 classes at the end of the semester to remain eligible for the entire second semester. Receiving three negative grades (Ds and Fs) at semester end results in ineligibility for the next 60 school days, with competition allowed again on the 61st school day. Please stay on top of your grades and seek help early if needed.

Student athletes must attend ALL scheduled classes to be eligible to participate in that day’s game/practice. If a student needs to be absent for a legitimate reason, such as a medical appointment, please notify the school in advance and provide any necessary documentation. We will review each case individually and make appropriate arrangements if needed. It is crucial for parents and guardians to communicate with the school if there are any concerns or if special circumstances arise. This will help us support your child and ensure they remain eligible for their games.
