Term 3 Community Information Evening on Literacy
You are invited to our Term 3 Community Information Evening on Literacy next Tuesday 22 July 6-7pm in Room 6.
As requested in last years' community feedback and publicised through our newsletter during Term 1 and 2, we are holding an information evening for our community regarding how we teach Literacy at Bellevue School. This will follow a similar format to the Reporting to Whānau Information Evening we held in Term 1 and will be a chance to:
- Hear about the WHY, WHAT and HOW of Literacy Teaching and Learning at Bellevue to gain a deeper understanding of your child's learning and how you can support them at home.
- Find out how the school's philosophies, pedagogies and practice align with the refreshed 'English' learning area of the New Zealand Curriculum and where the Better Start Literacy Approach (BSLA) fits in all of this.
- See how a child's progress and next steps is reported to families
- Ask questions of our teaching and leadership team.
- Share any thoughts or comments you might wish the school to consider.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided and our wonderful Sarah will be in the library to supervise your children should you wish to bring them.
We are exploring how we might make this evening available to any families who might wish to be there but are unable to attend. As you will appreciate, however, this is a long day for our teaching team, so in-person attendance is appreciated and valued.
We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday evening at 6pm in Room 6.
Community Voice - Planning for Bellevue into 2028
2025 marks the beginning of future planning for Bellevue School's vision of ‘Igniting Learning, Empowering Learners’ throughout 2026 - 2028.
To give the Board a clear picture of the community priorities to guide the three year strategic plan goals, we are having conversations with our community over the coming months. From the strategic plan, the school develops an annual plan to identify actions that will help the school continuously improve.
These conversations begin now in the form of a digital form sent home to families or available hard copy from the office. It is our aim to provide multiple opportunities, mechanisms and avenues for you to share your thoughts - of which the digital form is just one. For this reason, this process will run throughout July and August, during which time we encourage you to get involved.
You may prefer to pick up a paper copy, have a kōrero with one of our team (please let them know that you wish your thoughts to be captured), complete the online form, catch us in the playground or drop an email. Whatever you choose, we look forward to hearing your thinking!
CLICK HERE to complete the ‘Community Voice Survey’ - this should take less than 10 minutes.
***Survey closes at 5pm Sunday 31 August 2025***
