Sometimes we have last minute or one-off volunteer opportunities, for which a SignUp Genius is not the best solution. Please join this group chat if you would like to receive notifications about these opportunities and frequently have availability during the school day, though there are occasional needs in the evening or on the weekend. Examples of some of these opportunities might include: picking up an item ordered for a school event, making copies of a last minute flyer for Friday Folders, distributing fundraiser orders, or helping out with the Friday Shop if there are too many unexpected volunteer cancellations.

Soup Together

The Pennington PTO is looking to spread the warmth again this winter. We will be hosting our 2nd annual soup potluck fundraiser benefiting the Western Prince William County Hypothermia Shelter and our Pennington student chefs are once again making the soup! ** This is a STUDENT community service opportunity that is open to both Elementary and Middle School students. ** The event is 12-1 pm on Saturday, January 31, and will be held in the cafeteria at Pennington. It is expected that your student and/or family will stay for the duration of the event to serve your soup. ** Soups can be homemade or purchased. Ingredients must be included on a label so that families are aware of potential allergies. ** The expected soup quantity per signup is at least 128 oz. ** Soup will need to be served in your own Crock Pot and be warm and ready to serve at 12pm. Please label all serving items with your name. ** Parents are encouraged to assist/supervise their child(ren) with making soup, but not make it for them. ** Commmunity service hours can be recorded for the time spent making your soup, including menu planning and grocery shopping. ** If purchasing soup, $10.00 will be the equivalent of 1 hour of community service, and $20.00 will be the equivalent of 2 hours of community service. No more than 2 hours will be awarded for purchased soup. It will still need to be warmed by you and provided in a Crock Pot. ** Servings utensils and tasting cups will be provided by the PTO. Family Bingo Event

Pennington PTO is excited to once again host its annual Family Fun Bingo event on January 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to join us for an afternoon of fun, excitement, and prizes! Event Information Date: Saturday, January 31, 2026 Time: 1:00-3:00 pm Location: Dining Hall Play for free and have a chance at winning great prizes! $1 cards will be available for purchase to participate in the 50/50 Bingo game.Concessions will be available for purchase. Friday Folder Flyers 2025-2026

This opportunity is for a volunteer to print, collate, and deliver flyers for Friday Folders to the front office to support our fundraising events. For each event, the flyer will be provided to you already formatted. You will be responsible for: printing 365 black and white copiescutting each sheet in halfbundling the copies as instructeddelivering the package to the front office by the date and time indicated You can print at your home/office using your own supplies or use a print service such as Staples or FedEx Office. For reference, this print job at Staples might cost approximately $75 including the cutting and would only need to be bundled separately. All paper, ink and supplies are the volunteer's responsibility. Each sign-up earns a minimum of 2 parent volunteer hours, up to the actual time spent completing the task.

Friday Store Sales 2025-2026

The Friday Store is back for the 2025-2026 school year! Students can shop during lunch time usually twice a month. Volunteers are needed to run the Friday Store for all grade levels! Lunches are from 10:30am until 1pm. Volunteers would set-up the store in the designated area, sell items during lunch time to the students and close the shop after the lunches have finished. A "How-To" Sheet will be available in the office for the volunteers with clear instructions on how to do this. If you are unable to attend after signing up, please cancel your registration with at least 24 hours notice or let us know at info@ptopenningtonschool.org.

Front Office Candy

Mrs. Sherwood keeps a basket on her desk for when our teachers and staff have those pesky candy cravings! Earn 1 parent volunteer hour for donating: One (1) LARGE (warehouse size, e.g, Costco or BJ's) bag of individually wrapped candy. Bag must be 50 oz. or larger.Or, three (3) small bags of individually wrapped candy totalling 50 oz. or more. NO LOLLIPOPS or SUCKERS, please. Fun-sized candy preferred. Please limit signups to two per family for the school year. Drop off your donation in the front office on the first school day of the month for which you signed up.
