Hey there! My name is Ellie Wengert and I will be your new school counselor here at Lakeland Jr./Sr. High School. Picking up where Mr. Watters left off, I get to support the Classes of 2027, 2029, and 2031. I will also get to be the staff advisor to Aevidum. I can't say how excited I am to get to know you and support you in reaching your goals!

To share a little bit about my journey before Lakeland, I am from Huntingtown, Maryland, a small town along the Chesapeake Bay near Annapolis. I attended Bucknell University for undergrad where I studied Education and Psychology. I also have two Masters Degrees from the University of Virginia, one interdisciplinary degree in Educational Psychology and a Masters in School Counseling. School counseling is my passion, and I have experience serving students across a broad range of experiences, needs, and goals. Outside of work, my hobbies include fitness, baking, music/singing, and exploring nature.

I am shaped by a number of different places. My mom's side of the family is from Panama, a vibrant Central American country that I got to visit periodically throughout my childhood. I have lived in Lewisburg, PA; Copenhagen, Denmark (studying abroad); Boston, MA; Charlottesville, VA; and most recently, Philly. From four years in Philly, I am an avid Phillies fan! My husband and I just moved to the area with our baby girl, Marlowe, and our cat. (My husband got a job the Geisinger School of Medicine as a Neuroscience Professor, hence the move to the area. Don't be shy if you are curious about neuroscience and want a connection to the field, as he is happy to connect!)

As I transition to the Lakeland community, I am so eager to get to know everything about the area, its traditions, and what it means to be from here. I can already tell that it is a special place, and I am honored to join the Tribe!

Especially as we get to know each other in the first weeks of school, please don't be afraid to find me, introduce yourself, and share something you're excited about for the coming school year. My door is open to you, and I can't wait to meet you!

Cheers to new beginnings,
Mrs. Wengert
