MIDDLE SCHOOL MATTERS
October 23, 2026
Principal's Note
We look forward to Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 4th and 5th. It is hard to emphasize how important that time is when it comes to aligning with your student(s)’ teachers and partnering with the school. Together we are Eddie Strong in making sure your student(s)’ education is rewarding and full of high expectations as they prepare for the next level of their school career.
Next week is the end of the marking period. All of you will be having different conversations with your student(s) based on their performance, but EVERY conversation is important. Celebrate with your student(s) if they worked hard and exceeded expectations! Challenge them if they are underperforming! Enact appropriate consequences at home that require them to show more responsibility if things are well below the standard. We are continuing to work hard to meet with students and have the necessary conversations at school that lead to the formation of good educational habits. We will support your home conversations EVERY step of the way!
As we move closer to the holidays there are many family events that may come into your schedules. Please plan around school as much as possible. Thank you for your consideration when it comes to your personal planning as it relates to school.

Tribal Affiliation Questionnaire
In Michigan, every school district has to collect certain student information, such as enrollment, demographics, and program participation, to share with the Michigan Department of Education. This helps monitor publicly funded educational programs and is required by federal and state laws.
The State School Aid Act added a requirement for districts to gather data on students' tribal affiliations. This data collection was set up with input from the Tribal Nations in Michigan. Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, all schools began providing an opportunity for tribal affiliation to be shared. It's important to note that providing tribal affiliation information to schools is optional.
The data collected will help improve communication with Tribal Nations and may also help districts determine if they are eligible to apply for extra funding to support Indigenous students. For those who choose to share their tribal affiliation, their information is protected by privacy laws like FERPA (Family Educational Rights to Privacy Act) and others that prevent discrimination.
If you wish to provide affiliation data for your child, please complete this Google form here. For more information about the data collection, please contact Mr. Ryan Towner at 269-663-3055 or rtowner@goeddies.com.

Breakfast and lunch are available FREE this school year, however, the Household Survey Education Benefits form still needs to be filled out per the Michigan Department of Education to allocate funding correctly. We encourage families to fill out the application online here. You are still welcome to add money to your student’s account for extra breakfast, extra lunch, and a la carte items through Meal Magic or envelopes are available in the school office.
Health Office
OK2SAY
In the event that you or your student(s) come across sensitive information that needs to be reported please utilize the OK2SAY program, contact building administration, or contact the local police department. DO NOT resort to social media as that only serves the purpose of instilling fear and panic.
Student Support Services
Our Student Support Specialist, Miss Kayla, assists students and families in addressing barriers to school success. Some of barriers may include excessive absences, atypical behavior, poor peer relations, and concerns related to academic achievement. Services include individual support, interpersonal skills, instruction in small group and classroom settings, crisis intervention, family consultation, transition support, and linking students and families with community resources. If you would like your student to utilize this service please have them get a consent form from the Guidance Office to take home and sign.
Technology
Chromebook Insurance: For $35 the insurance covers the device for one year. Please click here to access the form.
RevTrak Online Payment System: Edwardsburg Public Schools has contracted with RevTrak, a national credit card payment processor, to provide a secure site for making payments over the internet. Parents may pay online with American Express, eCheck, VISA, Discover and MasterCard credit or debit cards. Online payments are currently being accepted for Chromebook insurance and repairs. For more information, click here.
Transportation
The EPS Transportation department has a great responsibility for ensuring the safety of children. Any change to a child’s normal dismissal routine adds a great deal of responsibility to the office staff, teachers, and drivers and results in unnecessary interruptions to classroom instruction. Please send a note or call the school office before 1:00 pm when a change is necessary. Thank you for understanding and your cooperation.
It is important to sign up for “HERE COMES THE BUS” here. Any changes to bus numbers, route changes, and drop-off times will be communicated through “Here Comes the Bus”.
Visitors
Edwardsburg Public Schools takes the health and safety of our staff and students very seriously. With our comprehensive plan to build and foster a safe and secure school community, we ask that any visitor please ring the bell on the wall and wait patiently for someone to assist you.
If you would like to volunteer at the Middle School, a Volunteer Background Form/Check will need to be completed ahead of time. Please click here to download, print, and return the form to the office with a copy of your driver's license. This must be done each school year.
