Fremont Intermediate School
New Family Registration
A Message From Mr. Ladenburger
All students will take the NWEA MAP assessment in reading and math on Tuesday, September 8, and Thursday, September 10. Testing will begin first thing in the morning, so please ensure your child arrives on time with a fully charged Chromebook. Each session will last 75 minutes. If additional time is needed, students will be scheduled to finish during a second session.
Morning Arrival - Elementary School Siblings
To help keep morning arrival running smoothly, we need all intermediate students to enter directly through the intermediate building doors rather than walking through the elementary building.
We love seeing our older students walk their younger siblings to their school but to help our elementary students build confidence, responsibility, and independence, we encourage them to enter their building on their own. Rest assured, our staff is stationed throughout the elementary hallways to guide, encourage, and ensure our youngest learners feel safe and supported.
Thank you for your partnership in making morning arrival a smooth and positive start to the day!

Fremont Mental Health Resources – Support at Your Fingertips
Our school website offers a variety of resources curated by the Fremont Mental Health Team to support both students and families. These resources include coping strategies, guidance for parents, and links to local services. They are designed to help you quickly find support and provide students with tools to manage stress, anxiety, or other challenges.
Get Involved with Our PAWS Program!
Our Assistant Principal is looking for parent volunteers to help support our PAWS efforts throughout the year! Tasks range from updating bulletin boards and managing the PAWS store to entering data and organizing student and staff recognition plans. Whether you can lend a hand once, twice, or every week, your help directly enhances student life at Fremont. If you’re interested, please reach out to Alana Davidov at adavidov@fsd.org.
Left Turns to be Allowed at New Traffic Exit
The District leadership team has been closely monitoring traffic patterns and observing how the new Fremont Center Road exit is being utilized before and after school. Our goal has been to ensure the new exit improves traffic flow while maintaining a safe environment for our students, families, and staff.
We have determined that allowing left turns onto Fremont Center Road will provide additional benefit to our families without creating safety concerns. Therefore, beginning Tuesday, September 8, the signs and cones restricting left turns onto Fremont Center Road will be removed. Both left and right turns will be permitted from the new exit at all times.
For everyone’s continued safety, please take your time and make cautious decisions when turning onto Fremont Center Road.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Share Your Pet Photos for Our Cafeteria Slideshow!
We’re excited to introduce new interactive displays in our cafeteria! To make lunchtime engaging and positive, we’re creating a student-friendly slideshow featuring inspirational content, club announcements, and family pets. We’d love your help kickstarting our first feature—please use this form to upload up to 5 photos of your family members with family pets, class pets, or favorite animal adventures by September 22, 2026.
Bus Evacuation Drills
Throughout the school year, our transportation team conducts school bus evacuation drills to ensure that students understand what to do and where to go in the event of an emergency.
Practicing these procedures helps students build confidence and ensures they are prepared should an actual emergency ever occur. The District will be conducting drills on the following upcoming dates:
FRONT DOOR EVACUATION DRILL
Friday, September 4
BACK DOOR EVACUATION DRILL
Monday, September 14
We encourage parents and guardians to talk with their children about the importance of participating seriously in these drills, including staying calm and following the bus driver’s instructions.
IS Club Registration 2026-2027

Attendance Matters - Building Strong Foundations Together
September is Attendance Awareness Month. Consistent daily routines foster predictability and social connection, lowering school anxiety and helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Illness Policy: Keep students home only for true illness. Children must be free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours without medication before returning.
Planning Ahead: Please align family vacations with scheduled school breaks to maintain steady learning and peer connections.
We’re Here to Help: If your child experiences drop-off anxiety or distress, reach out to our team. We are eager to partner with you to support your child's overall well-being!
“Away for the Day” – Device Expectations
To reduce distractions and promote learning, FSD79 is continuing our “Away for the Day” initiative in alignment with our Portable Electronic Equipment Policy (Board Policy 7:190).
Key expectations:
Cell phones must be turned off and stored in a Chromebook bag or sleeve during the school day.
Smartwatches must be in school mode and used only to tell time.
Devices may not be used in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, lunch, or recess.
Students may use the main office phone if they need to contact a parent or guardian.
Approved use may be permitted through a student’s IEP or 504 Plan.
We are aware of the new Illinois state law banning certain electronic devices within our schools and we will be working through this new guidance before its implementation for the 2027-2028 school year.
Absences need to be reported to the school by 9:00 a.m. by calling the attendance line or submitting the electronic absence form which is linked below.
- Attendance Line - 847-837-0437 option 2
Excused Absences Include
- Illness (including mental and behavioral health of the student)
- Medical/Therapeutic appointments

- Family emergencies or civic events
- Parenting or safety-related concerns
NOTE: A doctor’s note must be presented to the school if a child is absent for more than three consecutive days due to illness.
