Message from Nicole Pease, Principal Teacher at DCS
Hello DCS families, the Thanksgiving Break allowed staff to take some time to enjoy family and friends and I hope you were able to do the same. The return to school was spirited due to the snow and anticipation of the upcoming holidays. The Friday before the break, the whole school participated in the annual Turkey Trot! Thanks to Kelly Parker for coordinating! We had students win cranberry sauce, stuffing, and a frozen turkey! Students set goals for themselves and were so excited to reach or surpass their goals.
Mother Nature's delivery of snow has added many things to our recess time; sledding, snow fort building and even cross country skiing. We are so fortunate to have different seasons with new activities to engage in outside.
Today's visit to the Mariposa Museum provided an opportunity for students to learn about different holiday celebrations around the world and how light is a part of each.
I hope to see you at the lantern parade Saturday at 6-7pm. Have your child bring their lantern, which they made in art, to the M+T Bank between 5:15 and 6pm to get a pole and a light to be ready to march in the parade. Kristen Garland and I will be there with lanterns with "DCS" on them.
Have a lovely weekend, Nicole

DCS Art News December 2024
Our DCS artists continue their prolific production! A highlight of the week was our day with Jeannie Connolly and Susan Ellingwood from Children and the Arts. Students made beautiful parade-ready lanterns. The Lantern Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 7th at 6 pm. Please visit https://www.childrenandthearts.org/annual-lantern-festival for more information. Students were excited to bring their lanterns home this week.
I look forward to continuing with our DCS artists when I return for the week of January 27th.
Thank you for supporting creativity!

Message from the School Nurse
A message from Pam Murphy, RN DCS School Nurse
Recently, there have been numerous student requests for cough drops. As cough drops are considered medication, I am asking for your help in following the ConVal policy on medication administration at the elementary level. To do this, any medication, including cough drops, must be delivered to the school by a parent/guardian or their designated responsible adult in the original container. A written permission form is also required which is available at DCS.
Please reach out to me at pmurphy@conval.edu if you have any questions.
