Greetings Lindblom MSA Eagles,

We appreciate our test coordinators, students, proctors, supervisors, and staff for ensuring smooth operations, focused testing environments, and a safe response to an unexpected evacuation. Thank you to our entire school community for a successful testing week. Notably, fewer Chromebooks were needed, reflecting strong student responsibility. Our students came well prepared for the PreACT, ACT, and IAR, and their cooperation helped everything run seamlessly.

We are incredibly proud of the 20+ students who participated in Mayor Johnson’s Listening Tour on Friday. Their honesty and insight were powerful. It was especially refreshing to hear ideas that can help us strengthen our Colloquium Day and after-school offerings. Our students shared a clear desire for safe spaces to build skills, connect with peers, and simply enjoy being adolescents. They spoke thoughtfully about feeling underprepared for adulthood and a desire to build practical life skills, such as cooking and basic car maintenance. Our AC students expressed a need for spaces that recognize they are in between, too old for traditional summer camps, yet not fully positioned for employment. Students also shared hopes for internships, shadowing opportunities, and safe spaces to socialize. Above all, they emphasized the importance of consistent recognition, encouragement, and support from the adults in their lives.

Last but not least, CPS has confirmed that May 1 will be a full instructional day for students. Known as May Day, this international observance honors the ongoing pursuit of dignity, fairness, and opportunity for working people. Its roots trace back to Chicago’s Haymarket Uprising, a pivotal moment in the fight for the eight-hour workday. Today, it stands as a broader reflection on the collective efforts to advance equity, justice, and strong communities for all.

Together we rise onward and upward,

Principal Banks

Student Spotlight

Congratulations to the Lindblom Debate Team! They accomplished something that had not been done in over four years. Not only did we field a JV Policy Debate team—10th graders Darius Rencher and Twila Bietila—but they also qualified for the City Championship by winning two conference tournaments and placing second at the conference championships.

At the City Championships, our JV team placed 8th overall, with Darius and Twila earning 6th and 7th place, respectively, as individual speakers.

Please take a moment to congratulate Twila and Darius on the strong and successful season they have just completed.
