School Store
Today, we started a SchoolStore program to help our school raise money. Scan the QR code on the Book Buddy Lanyard that was sent home with your student to find out how the program works. Parents, please read over the information describing how you can participate. Your student will earn a participation prize when they return the filled-out Student Lanyard to school, and they can earn more great prizes when your family and friends help our school raise money. So don't forget to send the filled out Book Buddy Lanyard back to school, and thanks for your support.
Request for Chromebook
Students, parents, and MCPS staff can use this form to request a home use Chromebook for MCPS students who do not have access to a personal or home device and are attending a school, and grade level, returning to a classroom Chromebook cart model. When a request for a device is fulfilled, it will be pre-assigned in the inventory system, and the device will be delivered to the school for distribution to the student. The home use device is to be kept at home. Requesting the device implies consent of use in accordance with MCPS policy (IGT-RA) and acknowledgement that the Chromebook, software, and issued peripherals are owned by MCPS.

The Conversation Is Underway. Your Questions, Concerns and Ideas Matter.
Why is MCPS studying school closures and consolidations? What does the data tell us? How will decisions be made? These are important questions, and they're exactly why we're bringing our community together. Our engagement sessions are underway, providing families, staff and community members opportunities to learn about the challenges facing our schools, ask questions and share what matters most to them. No schools have been selected for closure, no recommendations have been made and no decisions have been predetermined. You don't need to have all the answers, or even know all the questions, to participate. This is a process of learning, listening and planning together, and there's still time to be involved. In a new video series, "The Hard Truth," MCPS takes you inside schools and support facilities to show the real facilities challenges facing our district.
The Hard Truth: Doing nothing is not an option.

Cooling to Heating Changeover begins Monday
To prepare for the chilly weather ahead, MCPS will begin the changeover process from air conditioning to heating in all schools, facilities and office buildings on Oct. 19. This process takes time and can be complicated. It is not as simple as flipping a switch. Maintenance teams must gradually transition building systems, check equipment and make adjustments to ensure heating systems are operating properly and safely. Because the changeover happens across hundreds of buildings, temperatures may vary from building to building — and even from room to room — as the process gets underway.
Keep an eye on this HVAC Changeover Status website for updates.
KioskVUE - Student Tardy Check-In/Early Dismissal
This year, we are implementing a sign in/check out for students that is already being used in secondary schools. This new system is called KioskVUE and will make for an easier and more efficient way of keeping track of a student's attendance.
