CAASPP Testing
Each spring, 11th-grade students participate in the California Science Test (CAST) and the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The computer-based tests measure what your student knows and can do, and students can use the results from the CAASPP ELA and Math tests to qualify for exemptions on CSU and Community College placement tests so that they are able to move directly into college-level courses upon enrollment. Successful completion of the CAASPP tests is also required for students to graduate College & Career Ready, to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy, and to earn the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma.
Practice and training tests can be found by following this link.

Artist of the Week
The amazing artist of the week is 11th grader, Jordyn Petersen! Jordyn is in Ms. McDonald's Advanced Drawing and Painting class. The painting, "Threshold," is created with acrylic on canvas and is 16" x 20".
Artist Statement:
The inspiration of my artwork originates from a character from a horror show called Junji Ito Collection, and the character is named Tomie. I took inspiration from her character physically where she has two faces morphed into one. The faces represent my struggle in knowing how to act or what face to put on, resorting to being blank most of the time. The dark wall with the sliver open represents how guarded I can be around new people. The hand reaching through the crack represents the people who try to meet me, in which it takes them a while. The blue light coming from the sliver in the wall represents opportunity, the bright light being a promise of welcome that I struggle to accept.
Free Heart Screening
One in 300 young people have a heart condition that puts them at risk for sudden cardiac arrest, which is also the leading cause of death for student athletes. To support early detection, in collaboration with UC Davis Health, free heart screenings for students and young adults (aged 12-25) will be offered on Sunday, March 22nd at Rio Americano High School. These screenings can help identify potential heart conditions and provide families with valuable peace of mind.
Registration is open now at www.kylejtaylor.org/screenings 4540 American River Drive, Sacramento 95864.
AP EXAMS
Pay for your AP Exams NOW!
Students may now register and pay for their AP Exams in Total Registration. Students must create an account with TR if this is their first time using TR. Students who have a TR account must log into their previous accounts. If students need help with logging in, they can use TR's login assistance. Students have until March 6th to register and pay for their AP exams. Students seeking financial assistance can request support by following the prompts in TR as they are registering. After the March 6th deadline, students will incur a late fee of $45 (per AP exam), imposed by the College Board and it is not able to be waived, even with financial assistance.
