Board of Education Meeting February 12, 2026 Board of Education Meeting February 12, 2026

Kindness in the schools!

Greetings LTUSD friends and families,

We are continually inspired by the care and compassion our students and staff show across the district. At the January 22, 2026, Board of Education meeting, trustees took time to reflect on the many positive moments happening throughout our schools and the deep commitment our community demonstrates for students each day. Recently, LTUSD Multilingual Learner Equity Specialist Alana Cayabyab visited South Tahoe High School (STHS) and was moved by the powerful messages displayed on posters throughout the campus and the welcoming spirit felt in the halls. As she shared, β€œThe younger generation truly gives me hope.” Below are a few of the posters currently brightening the halls at STHS.

Thank you to our dedicated staff for all you do for students every day, and thank you to our students for leading with compassion and sharing it throughout our community.πŸ’—

A big thank you to Heavenly Mountain Resort!

LTUSD is incredibly fortunate to have our local friends from Heavenly Mountain Resort to share their generous offerings through the Epic Resorts Promise Foundation and their Epic for Everyone Program.
* All LTUSD 4th and 5th graders have the opportunity to ski or snowboard for three days, including lift pass, rental and lessons. This opportunity allows many of our students access to these snow sports that they otherwise may not be able to enjoy.
* Our 5th graders also snowshoe with a US Forest Service Ranger and all students ride the Gondola.
* Our 8th graders go snowshoeing with the South Tahoe Environmental Education coalition and all students ride the tram from California Main Lodge.
* Our 5th grade Epic Days allows all students to ride the Gondola, roller coaster, tubing, and Sky Chair at the top.
* Heavenly/Vail Resorts opens their base area and cross-country skiing area for our Nordic Ski teams.

Every Child Belongs: Understanding Student Education Rights in California

All children in California have the following rights:

  • Right to a Free Public Education: All children have a right to equal access to free public education, regardless of their or their parents'/guardians' immigration status.

  • Information Required for School Enrollment: Schools must accept a variety of documents from the student's parent or guardian to demonstrate proof of the child's age or residency, and schools are not required to keep a copy of the document used as proof of the child's age.

  • Confidentiality of Personal Information: Federal and state laws protect student education records and personal information. These laws generally require that schools obtain written consent from parents or guardians before releasing student information, unless the release of information is for educational purposes, is already public, or is in response to a court order or subpoena.

  • For more information, please click on the picture.

SARC Information

The 2025 School Accountability Report Cards (SARC) for Lake Tahoe Unified School District schools were available on February 1, 2026, through the school websites, District website, through the California Department of Education CDE Find a SARC webpage, and print copy upon request. The purpose of the report card is to provide families and the community with important information about each public school. A SARC can be an effective way for a school to report on its progress in achieving goals. The public may also use a SARC to evaluate and compare schools on a variety of indicators. The SARC contains the following information:

● Demographic data

● School safety and climate for learning information

● Academic data

● School completion rates

● Class sizes

● Teacher and staff information

● Curriculum and instruction descriptions

● Postsecondary preparation information

● Fiscal and expenditure data

If you would like to view a specific school’s SARC, please visit the District or school website or request a print copy by contacting the school directly.
