Sign Up for Parent Teacher Conferences
Starting on Monday, Nov. 4, parents and guardians will be able to sign-up for Parent Teacher Conferences in Skyward. Woodland is implementing this change districtwide so that no matter which school your child (or children) attend, you can login to one spot to schedule your conference. You will no longer need to navigate to multiple signup genius links. This should centralize the process for families with multiple children and create consistency across the schools.
Woodland families should already be familiar with Skyward Family Access because you have used it for registration, viewing student report cards, reporting absences, and more. We are excited to add one more feature to this central hub. Please follow these tips:
Log in to Skyward Family Access from your computer or mobile device. The interface is easy and straightforward regardless, but our initial testing shows the easiest user experience is with the Skyward Family Access App on your phone or mobile device. Apple, Google/Android
Check out this video to see what to expect once the sign-up window opens on Nov. 4
Make sure you know how to login to Skyward! Woodland continues to expand the options available through Skyward Family Access. If you need your Family Access login credentials please send an email to AccessHelp@Dist50.net.
The window to sign up is only open until Monday, November 11th. If you haven't signed up for a spot you will be assigned a date/time.
Please note we have a special attendance schedule in order for our staff to conference with all families. Dual Language families will be conferencing with both teachers together, so they will have an additional day for conferences to ensure enough time slots for all families to participate.
Conference Dates
Monday, November 25th: Students released at 10:40 a.m. and conferences will be in person and run from 12:00-4:00 and 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 26th: Students released at 10:40 a.m. and conferences will be virtual and run from 12:00-5:30 p.m.
There is no staff or student attendance on Wednesday, November 27th-Friday, November 29th due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Dinner
On Monday, November 25th, our teachers and staff stay until 8:00 for parent-teacher conferences. They have a dinner break from 4:00-5:00 p.m. It's a nice treat if they don't have to pack their dinner for that night, so if you'd like to donate any amount towards this special staff dinner, it would be greatly appreciated. It's a meaningful way to show our staff how much they are appreciated. Donations will be accepted online through the District 50 webstore and all donations raised will go to the fall conference dinner and spring conference dinner. Thank you for supporting our amazing staff!
November Meal Order Forms
Remember to order in advance for breakfast (kindergarten) and breakfast/lunch (AM/PM EC/WELE). The forms are below.

District Food Drive 2024
It's a Woodland tradition! This time of year we begin preparations for the Annual Food Drive. Over the previous years, we have been able to serve our Woodland families by providing additional support during the holiday season. With the generous donations from our staff, students and their families, we set up a Woodland Food Pantry with the hopes that everyone can enjoy this special time of year.
Ways to Participate
If you are interested in participating, there are many different ways you can help! From donating food, to volunteering, to signing up to receive food for yourself or for others, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Food Donations
One option to support the Annual Food Drive is to bring in non-perishable food donations to school, or drop off at the district office. Please follow these guides to help us make sure that there is a wide variety of items available for recipients.
Financial Donations
Another way to show your support is to donate funds through the district website. Your donation will go toward purchasing food and other needed items for Woodland families. In past years, Woodland has been able to provide a gift card to families to purchase fresh food items to supplement the non-perishable items that are available from the food drive.
We are accepting food and financial donations now through December 2, 2024.
Receive Donations
If you are interested in receiving food, Woodland families are invited to self-register. Or you can nominate a deserving family who may need support this time of year.

Kindergarten Assessments
Our kindergarten students have been working hard and showing us what they know through a variety of assessments. Three assessments that students participated in during September and October are the KIDS Assessment, which is observational data collected on students about their readiness for kindergarten. This data is collected during the first 40 days of school. The NWEA MAP assessment is given to students at the beginning of the year, in the winter and in the spring. Last, students participated in iReady assessments for reading and math.
We view all of these assessments as snapshots of where your child is currently at with their skills and understanding of concepts and more importantly, how we can support their growth. These assessments give us baseline data to determine what goals are set customized to your child's needs.
We also strive to build confidence with our students so that when they take assessments they understand that they should just do their best and that the goal is for us to support their growth. This is new for our kindergarten students and so we approach it with no pressure and and build it into their normal routine so that they aren't fearful of assessments or feel anxiety about performance. Our students enjoy taking the assessments on the ipads and it makes for a conducive learning environment.
Today, you will receive your child's iReady math and reading scores and your child's NWEA MAP scores for math and reading. During your November conference, your child's teacher will share the observational report from the KIDS assessment.
If you have any questions, you can reach out to me or your child's teacher. Remember, this is kindergarten and it is baseline data, we have to start your child's educational journey with data to support solid growth goals.
