From the Principal, Stefi Slewitzke
Dear Families,
This week, our 5th grade students had their first onsite field trip with the Fulton County STEAM Bus, where they participated in engaging, hands-on lessons about electricity and magnetism. Students participated in three activities designed to build understanding of the BIG IDEAS they have been learning about in Science Unit 1: circuits, current, open circuit, closed circuit, conductors, insulators, magnetism, electromagnets, and more. Their concluding activity involved building a robot with a closed circuit that ran a ran on the body of the robot. Great job 5th grade teachers and students! Opportunities like these bring classroom learning to life and deepen students' understanding through real-world experiences.
Thanks to the support of our PTO, students in all grade levels will have similar opportunities beginning next week through the Discovery Lab. Be sure to ask your student about their experience at the dinner table!
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can make this a successful and rewarding year for all our students.
Stefi

IReady Inform:
i-Ready Inform, formerly called i-Ready Diagnostic, is an adaptive screen-based assessment delivered on electronic devices that adjusts its questions based on the responses of students. A paper copy of Math and Reading iReady Inform results will be sent home at the close of the 4.5-week progress report period. Meanwhile, parents who want to access their student results may do so by logging to in your student's account to access the For Families report. You will be asked for a code. The new code for our school this year is: CMVRR3

Optional Device Protection Enrollment
Protect Your Student's New Chromebook
As we place these brand-new devices into the hands of students, we strongly encourage families to enroll in the Optional Device Protection Plan. While participation is voluntary, the plan can provide significant savings and peace of mind should accidental damage occur during the school year.
Protection Plan Cost
Students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch - $25
All other students - $50
Applicable deductibles may apply if damage occurs
Without coverage, families are responsible for the full cost of repairs and replacements, which can range from $30 to $270 for repairs and up to $500 for a lost or damaged beyond repair device.
Enrollment Deadline Extended
The Optional Device Protection enrollment window has been extended through September 25, 2026.
Families who wish to enroll after that date may still contact the Technology Support Center at 470-254-HELP (4357); however, the Chromebook must first be inspected by a school Technology Support Specialist before coverage can begin.
How to Enroll
Step-by-step instructions and a video tutorial are available on the FCS Strategy and Technology webpage. Resources are available for:
