Tuesday, August 22 we have our open house for new students and freshmen from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. During open house, we will have 2 meetings and would like you to attend one of them. The meetings are scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. in the West Gym and Assistant Principals Coleen Keffeler and Wayne Sullivan will go over some expectations for the upcoming school year.

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year at Sturgis Brown High School. As you embark upon a new school year, we hope that you will establish high expectations for yourself that will be reflected in your academic achievement, your co-curricular involvement and your positive contributions to your school community.

No matter where you go or what you do, you will find certain regulations to guide you. Naturally, there are rules and regulations at Sturgis Brown High School. They are meant for your benefit and those of your classmates. This handbook has been developed to inform students about their school. This handbook is not meant to be an “all inclusive” manual. Common sense and “doing the right thing” always take precedence and are staples of everyday living.

Your conduct should reflect respect; respect for yourself, for your parents and for your school. You should show respect for the property, rights and privileges of others, just as you expect and appreciate this respect when others show it to you. Good behavior can help make your school life successful and rewarding. Take pride in your school. We want you to be proud of your school and your fellow students, and we want others to be proud of them. Each of you has a responsibility for the school’s reputation. Be supportive of all activities at our school, either as an active participant or as an enthusiastic observer.

We encourage you to get involved and contribute positively to your classes and activities. Give 100% effort in everything you do and the rewards you seek will become reality. We wish you all a very successful school year.

BUS INFORMATION

All school bus routes will be established by the Board in consultation with the bus contractor and school administrators. Number of families served by the bus and cost factors will be considered. Routes shall be planned and adjusted to the capacities of available equipment.

Parents have the responsibility of getting students to and from the bus stop in the morning and evening. Students should be at the stop not earlier nor later than five (5) minutes before scheduled bus arrival time.

Additional supplies may be required for elective classes. Students will be instructed regarding additional supplies during their first week of classes.

SBHS CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

As you have probably noticed if you have been by the high school, we have a major construction project on the front of the west gym. The construction project is a new kitchen and cafeteria, and the expected completion date is June 2024. This construction project will be going on the whole school year and we will keep you posted if things change. At this moment, I cannot tell you what the exact student drop off or pick up will look like if you are bring your student to school. I will send you an email the weekend before the first day of school as I need to see the progress of the front portion of the building. We will be using the Main Entrance to the school.
