It’s National School Counseling Week, and we are Bulldawg proud to recognize the steady hands and caring hearts of our school counselors.

Every day, they guide students through challenges, celebrate their successes, and help them see what’s possible. Their work doesn’t always make headlines, but it changes lives.

Thank you for showing up, listening first, and always putting students at the center.

March of the Mayors Food Drive

March of the Mayors Food Drive

The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) is proud to partner with the City of Aberdeen in support of the March of the Mayors Food Drive, helping families right here in our community.

🌽 Focus Item for February: Canned Corn

All donations will benefit food pantries across North Mississippi, including Aberdeen Loaves & Fishes, which serves families in South Monroe County.

📍 How to Donate:
Students and families may bring canned corn to their school office throughout the month of February.
Every can makes a difference, and together we can help ensure our neighbors have food on their tables. Thank you for supporting this important community effort! 💚

🎓 Supporting Our Staff, Growing Our Teachers

Aberdeen School District is proud to partner with William Carey University to support employees pursuing teacher licensure through the Master of Education in the Art of Teaching (MAT) Alternate Route Program.

This partnership reflects our commitment to developing talent from within and strengthening instruction for our students. The MAT Alternate Route is designed for individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree in a non-education field and want to transition into the classroom as certified teachers, with the option to complete a full master’s degree.

Program highlights for staff:

  • Online/virtual coursework offers flexibility for full-time employees

  • Licensure areas include Elementary Education, Secondary Education (Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and more), and Special Education

  • Candidates begin with 9 hours of coursework:

    • EDU 563 – Classroom Management

    • EDU 650 – Tests, Measurements & Evaluations

    • EDU 572 – Survey of the Exceptional Child

  • After completing coursework and required Praxis exams, candidates may earn a 3-year non-renewable license and be hired as a certified teacher

  • Completion of Internship I & II leads to a 5-year standard renewable license

  • Participants may continue an additional 15–18 hours to earn the full MAT degree

👏 Congratulations to Denise Page, who recently completed the program. Her dedication and commitment to professional growth are exactly what this partnership is designed to support.

This is how we invest in people, strengthen our classrooms, and build the future of Aberdeen School District.

🤍 Week 1: Kickoff to American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month!
This week, we’re encouraging Bulldog families to make small, heart-healthy choices—like adding extra steps during the day, choosing fruit for snacks, and staying hydrated. Healthy hearts help students stay energized, focused, and ready to learn.

Every Wednesday, we encourage students and staff to wear college shirts! Why? Because seeing those college names and logos reminds our students that higher education is possible for them, whether it’s a school close to home or one across the country. It’s a simple way to spark conversations, plant dreams, and keep students motivated toward their future goals. Let’s show them that the road to college starts right here in Bulldawg Country!
