A Message from the Principal

Dear Hunter Families,

As a staff and school district we are always trying to enhance our processes and procedures around safety. We have communicated a lot about safety as it relate to COVID-19 this year, but there are many other safety precautions we talk about at school.

We conduct various safety drills throughout the school year so that all students and staff know what to do in case an emergency does happen. You probably remember fire and tornado drills from your time in school. In addition, we have developed plans to become better prepared to respond to a variety of other emergencies. We believe that by establishing, communicating, and then practicing the plans we will be able to manage difficult situations more effectively. Part of the emergency drills include leaving the school building (fire and evacuation) while other times students stay in the classroom or in the hallways (tornado).

While we do not like the idea of having to be prepared for these kinds of unfortunate situations, we want to be ready to do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe. As much as is possible, please discuss these drills with your children in an ageĀ appropriate way.

We want each student to be aware of the importance of these drills and not be afraid when the alarm is sounded or a drill is run. We know that this affects all students a little differently.

We are looking forward to another great week at school!

My Best,

Jenna Mullins
