Guidance
We just finished our unit on safety & protective behaviors. Your student should have brought home with them a sheet in which they identified five adults they can go to if they need help. I always encourage families to talk about the safe adults their students can go to if they are not available. The last several weeks of school we will focus on respecting others, and ourselves, as unique individuals. We will learn that we have things in common with every person in the world, and we also have qualities that are special to only us!

Music
It’s hard to believe that the school year is almost over! It has been so wonderful to reflect on all the musical growth that has happened this year at the ELC and PC. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders are wrapping up the year by singing new songs as well as harmony parts for those songs, playing instruments, and using the parachute! I am looking forward to doing a camp themed unit the last 2 weeks of school where students will be singing camp songs and reviewing our melody and rhythm skills through various camp themed activities.
I have really enjoyed joining the school and the community this year. Thank you for your support and your amazing children!

Kindergarten PE has had a fun last month and a half. During the week of the Masters tournament, we started our last striking unit; you guessed it, golf. We worked on swinging a golf club, which we tied directly to the tournament that was going on that week. We also had little mini golf stations where we practiced our putting and the difference in backswing and swing speed. The last couple of weeks, we have been doing final testing of their skills. I tested them on locomotor skills (skipping, galloping, hopping, etc), and several other specific skills like overhand throw, underhand throw, and forward rolls. The progress that each student has shown is something you should be very proud of as caregivers. If you want to see where your child started the year on their skills, and where they ended, please send me an email, and I can provide you with their before and after scores. I am looking forward to a great end of the year.

I'm excited to announce that we raised $8,674 this year with our Kid's Heart Challenge!
Thank you for your participation, guiding our students through the process, and supporting the PE department with this event. We had 83 students from the Primary Center participate either via the Online Challenges or the Fundraising effort to help the American Heart Association support individuals with heart related issues.
Additionally, the IC raised $11,600 bringing our 1-5th grade district total to over $20,000!!! This is an amazing achievement for our community, and all of our students should be proud of their efforts.
Thank you again for all of the support.

Art
Wowee the year has flown by!
At the PC, we celebrated Earth day with our latest project: butterflies made from recycled materials. Next, we will be moving on to personalized collages!
Our ELC artists are currently working on some oil pastel and watercolor paintings, and will be creating some butterflies of their own next!
I am so very proud of all the hard work and creativity these students have brought to the art room this year! We also had three amazing gallery walks this year, and thank you to all the family and community members who came out to show your support!

Library
In April we hosted an author visit at the ELC and the PC. Students got to hear Stephen Shaskan read from some of his favorite books. They also sang songs and created some pretty amazing characters with him. Here is a link to the Stephen Shaskan website where you can find lots of fun kids activities and see books he has written and illustrated. In May, we will be wrapping up the year with some excellent read alouds and a few coding activities. All library books will be due the week of May 26th.
