Principal Weekly Update to Families
For the Week of September 15th - 19th
Brief Message From the Principal
Dear Jayhawk Elementary Families,
We are excited to share that most of our students have successfully completed their Beginning of the Year FastBridge benchmark assessments in reading and math. These assessments give us valuable insight into how each child is starting the year, allowing us to provide the right level of support for every student.
At JES, we believe interventions are not just for students who may be struggling—they are for all students. Teachers use the FastBridge results to form small groups and plan targeted instruction that helps students strengthen skills, challenge themselves, and continue to grow. This means that every child receives the right type of support at the right time, whether that’s building a stronger foundation, practicing skills, or extending learning to go deeper.

Family Communication
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to sign up for our new Rooms communication tool. This platform allows families to stay in constant contact with their child’s classroom teacher and is now our primary method of communication across USD 346. Using Rooms ensures that you never miss important updates, reminders, or classroom news. If you need help accessing Rooms, please see the link provided or reach out to our office for assistance.

Progress Report Update for Grades 3–6
Today marks the halfway point of our first quarter! In the past, physical copies of progress reports were sent home at this time. This year, all progress reports will be reflected directly in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families can log in anytime to view their child’s current academic progress and stay up to date with posted grades.
We encourage parents to take a few minutes to check the portal and review how their child is doing so far this quarter. If you have questions about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their classroom teacher.
Help Us Recognize our Wonderful USD 346 Employees:
We are fortunate to have an amazing team of teachers, support staff, and employees here at USD 346 who go above and beyond for our students each day. We would love your help in recognizing their hard work and dedication! Please take a moment to nominate a staff member who has made a positive difference.
