Welcome Back From Spring Break! Welcome Back From Spring Break!

Transportation, Warehouse, Maintenance and Printing Departments Appreciation!

Our LPS community knocked it out of the park again! Thanks to the generous donations, LPTSAC was able to deliver over 100 goodie bags and donuts to our hard-working transportation, maintenance, warehouse and printing departments! These departments are a BIG part of our district and so much of their work is done behind the scenes. A huge thank you to Looney Baker for the donuts and our amazing families for donating to our Amazon Wishlist and over $300 in monetary donations!

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Can you believe it's already April?!?! At this point in time, you should either be reaching out to your members for next year's board or have your slate already selected. Remember, those on your slate should currently be members of your PTA/PTSA.

As you are getting ready and having celebrations that will carry on throughout the remainder of the year, those who are volunteering to help, are they members of your PTA/PTSA? If not, get them to join. It's never too late to join! Just remember, in order to be eligible to receive PEP credit for those new members for this year, they have to become members in April.

There are still a couple of months left of school. Plenty of time to get more members and make a difference.

Kindly,

Nicole Dant

Treasurer and Membership Chair

Buchanan Elementary

Our PTA had a wonderful March celebrating Reading Month and supporting a love of literacy across our school community. We were proud to partner with staff and students for Battle of the Books, where teams showed off their reading skills, teamwork, and enthusiasm. We also hosted a successful Scholastic Book Fair, including a special evening shopping opportunity for families to come in and shop together with their child(ren), helping students build their home libraries while raising funds to support future literacy initiatives. Thank you to all of the volunteers and families who made these events possible!

As we move into April, we’re turning our attention to planning for the year ahead. PTA elections for next year’s board will take place this month, and we look forward to continuing the strong partnership between families, staff, and our school community.

We’re also beginning preparations for a busy and exciting May! Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner, and we’re looking forward to celebrating our incredible educators. In addition, planning is underway for our Spring Fling, which is always a highlight for students and families. Stay tuned for more details!

Coolidge Elementary

Coolidge PTA had almost 200 students return their YMAD commitment forms. Our in-school projects were a huge success with 99 blankets being donated to Sinai Grace hospital, hundreds of cards to local assisted living facilities and around 350 students being given an opportunity to complete a community service project during their recess. Our YMAD chair designed a fun and interactive bulletin board with a handprint for each student who returned their commitment form.

Reading month was a huge success. We were able to help our media center with their Scholastic book fair and had over $18,000 in sales! The PTA was able to use the remainder of our funds raised two years ago to sponsor any student who did not have money to shop at the book fair. Over 70 students were caught reading and had the opportunity to choose a free book from the fair so that all of our Coolidge students were able to walk away with at least one new book.

Our family literacy night had a great turn out! The PTA worked with Coolidge's literacy team to offer families a night of fun and books. We had book bingo in the gym, special guest readers, crafts and a chance for families to take one last look at the book fair.

Our DEIB chair updated our monthly bulletin board for Women's History month. Students can see the board during the day and read quotes from famous women throughout history.

Cooper Upper Elementary

March seemed to fly by with reading month!!

This month was full of students showing off their creative side! We had so many amazing entries for our yearbook cover contest and we announced our winner this year! Every student who submitted a drawing will have the picture they drew on the back of the yearbook as well. We also had an amazing turn out for Reflections. We had students make it to states as well as the NATIONAL level! WOW!!! Seeing everyone's art work was amazing!!

We had two dine and donates! We have been so lucky to have such a supportive restaurant community wanting to help out our school!

READING month celebration! The PTA provided ice cream floats to all the students in the school! We wanted to surprise them with a sweet treat to show them how amazing they have been doing! The students absolutely loved it!

Kennedy Elementary

March was a fun month over at Kennedy Elementary.

It’s worth mentioning our unit had a wonderful time at Founders' Day back in February and wants to thank the LPTSA Council for hosting a great event. We want to extend a congratulations to Sarah Rollins and Anita Tatla Huysken for being selected as our nominees this year. We also want to extend an additional thank you to Ms. Bashawaty for creating the winning centerpiece! Thank you for everything you all do for Kennedy!

Our PTA set up a fun dine-out with Dave & Buster's in March where for the entire month 50% of Dave & Buster's Power Card sales came back to Kennedy's PTA! An additional bonus is the cards never expire and are valid at all locations. Many families took advantage of this awesome deal.

Sticking with the “Just Read It” sports theme for reading month over at Kennedy, our PTA sponsored an all-school assembly featuring the Tigers mascot, Paws! It was one of the highlights of “March is Reading Month” and was organized by our amazing librarian (once again thank you Ms. Bashawaty).

Our yearbook crew has been working hard on putting together Kennedy’s yearbook. We took some fun pictures in March including all the 4th graders with their siblings and pictures of any students in extracurriculars.

We look forward to the coming months and closing out this school year with more fun in store.

Rosedale Elementary

March was a month to remember for our school community, as the PTA proudly supported both Reading Month and our Coin War Fundraiser that brought students, staff, and families together.

To celebrate Reading Month, we transformed our school into an “Out of This World” experience. From the moment students walked in, they were surrounded by a space-themed atmosphere —windows painted with planets, stars, and galaxies, student artwork displayed throughout the halls, and strings of stars hanging overhead to spark imagination and excitement for reading. The goal was simple: make reading feel magical, immersive, and fun for every student.

As a PTA, we were able to donate 30 Books with a stuffed animal or toy, along with funding a variety of rewards to encourage and celebrate student participation. It was truly heartwarming to see the enthusiasm grow throughout the month as students reached their reading goals.

In addition to promoting literacy, March also featured our exciting Coin War Fundraiser. Each classroom joined in the friendly competition, collecting coins and students had a blast contributing to their class totals. Altogether, we raised an impressive $1,292.83, showcasing the generosity and teamwork within our school community. Congratulations to Ms. McGarry's Kindergarten Class for winning the Coin War! Along with Ms. McGarry's class, the top 5 earning classes will be rewarded with an Ice Cream Party!

We are so proud of everything accomplished this month — from fostering a love of reading to coming together fundraising. A big thank you to everyone who contributed their time and creativity to make March such a success.

We’re excited to carry this momentum forward and look ahead to an event-filled April!
