Wolfpack Weekly Grades 7 - 8

Week of September 7th

Wolfpack WeeklyGrades 7 - 8Week of September 7th

What a wonderful two weeks it has been! We wrapped up our two weeks with a PBIS assembly that truly captured the energy and spirit of our community. Our students spent time learning the expectations and procedures for our division, and during the assembly, they got to show off what they learned through some fun, competitive games. It was a joy to watch!

Students also had the chance to meet Officer Dewees and learn about his role in our school community. We shared some exciting upcoming PBIS events, and families can expect a detailed list of school trips — including estimated dates, costs, and payment due dates — to help you plan ahead. We also introduced this year's theme and let students know they can earn the Principal Award at the end of the year by sharing what it has meant to them to belong at AGCS. Awards will be given to two students in each grade level at the end of the year. We can't wait to hear their stories!

Speaking of celebrations — our first MS event is just around the corner! On September 11th and 14th, students who completed their summer reading assignments will be treated to a Cream Puff Party. Curious about the cream puffs? Ask your child — they'll love explaining the connection! Permission slips will go home with all students eligible to attend on Tuesday and Wednesday. If we do not get a response from parents, we will assume it is ok for them to attend. Please reach out if you have any concerns. Students who did not submit their assignment on time will not participate in the party, but will be given an alternative assignment for a replacement grade.

We hope to see you at Back to School Night on Thursday, September 10th, starting promptly at 6 pm in the Upper School. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teachers, learn about what's ahead in middle school, and get any questions answered. As a bonus, every parent who attends will have the chance to enter their child in a raffle for school spirit wear!

Finally, a big thank you for your continued support at home! Your encouragement is making a real difference — the number of temporary badges being printed is dropping every day, and we are proud to share that only 1 cell phone has been collected in middle school so far this year. Please keep reminding your child to bring their ID/Key Fob daily and to drop off their cell phone with their last period teacher. Together, we are building great habits!

Looking forward to a fantastic year with your family,

Being Prepared for Weather

Dear Charter School Families,

One of the things that makes our school truly special is our open campus. Much like a college environment, our students move between buildings and outdoor spaces throughout the day — and we believe this is a wonderful part of their experience here. The fresh air, the change of scenery, and the freedom to navigate their own path across campus are privileges we don't take for granted.

As we head into the fall season — and after a stretch of some memorable thunderstorms — we want to take a moment to remind families that being prepared for the weather is part of life on an open campus. Rain, wind, cold, and yes, the occasional downpour, are all part of the experience. Learning to anticipate and prepare for these conditions is, in itself, a valuable life skill — one that will serve your student well long after they leave our halls.

With that in mind, we encourage you to help your student come to school each day ready for whatever the weather may bring:

  • A sturdy umbrella for rainy days

  • Waterproof boots when snow or slush is in the forecast

  • Hats and gloves when temperatures drop

  • A warm winter coat throughout the cold months

On the many beautiful days we are fortunate to have, our open campus is a genuine luxury — and our students feel it. There is something special about stepping outside between classes, breathing in fresh air, and moving through the day with a little more freedom than four walls allow. We want every student to enjoy those moments fully, and to be prepared for the days that are a little less cooperative.

Thank you for partnering with us in helping your student build the habits and independence that will carry them forward. As always, we are grateful for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Matt Messick, GeriAnn Lamber, and Mark Miller

One of Avon Grove Charter School's core values is that of promoting service. We are committed to the concept that service extends beyond our school walls and that makes a positive impact on the surrounding communities. As a Charter School that attracts students from across multiple districts in Chester County, AGCS students have the opportunity to serve multiple communities, organizations, and people within the surrounding area.

  • Middle School Students are required to complete five (5) documented hours of community service per year
