Happy New Year 2026

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

As we begin a new year, we warmly welcome all students, families, staff, and community members back to school! We hope 2026 brings you good health, happiness, and many blessings. Thank you for your continued support as we work together—home, school, and parish—to nurture each child in the virtues of a Catholic education.

We are proud of the hard work and achievements of our students and staff so far this year. Our STOC Winter Wonderland was a terrific success, filling our hearts with the joy and spirit of Christmas. A heartfelt thank you to our Catholic School Council for organizing this wonderful event, and to the dedicated teachers who plan the activities and join in with students and their families

We also extend our gratitude to the St. Teresa of Calcutta community for generously supporting our Youth Faith Ambassadors’ Christmas initiatives.

A special thank you to all families who participated in the Angel of Giving Campaign. Your kindness helped us provide assistance to several families in the community.

Please remember to visit both the School and Board websites throughout the year for important updates and information. You can also follow us on Twitter for news and highlights.

Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful New Year!

School Uniform Interest Survey

We will be conducting a School Uniform Interest Survey starting January 6, 2026, to gather input from our school community.

Please note the following key points:

  • The survey will be sent by the DPCDSB Research Department to the primary contact for each family in our school (excluding Grade 8 families) on January 6, 2026.
  • Each family counts as one voting unit.
  • For next steps to occur, at least 60% of all families must vote YES to explore a uniform option. An elementary school community shall not be surveyed about interest in establishing a school uniform policy more than once every four (4) years.
  • Families will choose between:
    • Dress Code : a standardized local dress code, which means a colour scheme (e.g., navy blue pants and white tops), with standard items purchased by parents through local vendors;

    • Uniform: a consistent school uniform with clear identification of the articles of clothing which will constitute the school uniform, including school name, crest, logo, and/or insignia;

    • No change
  • Initial consultation must happen during the first of week of February 2026 and all decisions must be finalized by the beginning of March 2026 for a 2026/2027 School Year Start. A minimum of 6 months shall elapse from the date of notification of the changes to the date of implementation of the new school uniform.

  • If you do not receive the survey email on the date mentioned above, check your email junk folder first
  • If the email is not in the email junk or main folder, please advise your school administrator through the info mailbox

  • Do not share your personalized survey link with anyone. We will only keep the most recent survey submission

Reminders will be sent to families who have not completed the survey, and we will follow up directly with those who need assistance.

Thank you for your support in ensuring clear communication and timely decision-making.

Fire Drills/Lock Down Procedures

During the school year we will be rehearsing and will continue to rehearse with students a number of emergency response situations including lock down and fire drills.

All schools are required by Board policy to practice these procedures throughout the year. We have these ‘practice drills’ for precautionary purposes only so that in the event of an actual emergency, students will be prepared to respond in a safe and responsible manner.

We will also be practicing a Lock Down Drill. During this drill, the outer doors will be locked and the office will be unavailable during the time of the drill. No one will be allowed to enter or exit during the drill while the emergency protocol is being followed. The day will continue as normal following the drill. Thank you for your patience.

Sign In/Out Book

Normally before leaving school early during the day, children must be signed out from the school office by a parent/guardian. If your child needs to leave school during the school day, you must notify the classroom teacher or the office in writing/via email/by phone. Once you arrive, please ring the doorbell and we will arrange to have your child brought to you at the front door.

Medication

On occasion, the school is asked to store and/or give medication to students. Medication of any kind cannot be stored on school property without the proper medical forms on file.

1. A completed form must accompany each request for medication to be stored by the school.

2. School personnel will not assume responsibility for the administration of any medication.

3. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to monitor the quantity of medication stored by the school.

4. Please let the office know if you require Storage of Medication Forms so they can be forwarded to you.

January is a time for Hope & Growth

Click above for January Issue

As we turn the calendar to 2026,we are invited to pause and look ahead with hope and intention. January marks not only the beginning of a new year but also Mental Wellness Month, a dedicated time to nurture our minds and hearts as we set meaningful goals and embrace fresh opportunities. The virtues of self-control and thoughtful decision-making are especially important during this season of resolutions. Setting intentions can feel daunting, but Pope Leo XIV reminds us that “hope does not mean having all the answers, but rather it calls us to put our trust in God.” Practicing self-control means managing our emotions and impulses with patience and compassion for others and for ourselves. This month, let us prioritize mental well-being alongside academic, spiritual and personal growth, creating spaces where students can thrive as self-directed, responsible, lifelong

learners. Inside this issue, you’ll find resources to support self-regulation, mental wellness, and overall well-being as we journey together into a year of balance and hope.

Concussion Protocol

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has developed a Concussion Policy and Guidelines for students who have been diagnosed with a concussion by either a medical doctor or nurse practitioner. School staff cannot diagnose a concussion. Anytime a student reports to the office with a head injury, the parent/guardian will be contacted and the incident will be entered into the school’s “Documentation of Head Injuries” log. This is precautionary only, and we ask that you check your child when he/she gets home for any signs of a concussion or illness. A brochure containing information about Concussions is provided upon pick up of the student or when they go home for the day. This is a precautionary measure and for information purposes.
