Lord, during this Lenten Season,
nourish me with Your Word of life
and make me one
with You in love and prayer.

Fill my heart with Your love
and keep me faithful to the Gospel of Christ.
Give me the grace to rise above my human weakness.
Give me new life by Your Sacraments, especially the Mass. Amen

Enrolments

Faith In Action Faith In Action

Dear God, I know that You are always with us, even when we don't see You. I believe You are with those who need help the most, like the poor and the sinners. Please help me to find You in everyone I meet, especially those who need my help. When I find You, I promise to love and serve You with my whole heart. Thank You, Jesus. I trust in You.

First Week of Lent
(Week beginning Monday 27th February)

We begin our annual Lenten Project Compassion journey by learning about Laxmi, a 16-year-old girl living in Jajarkot, a remote district in Nepal where almost half of the population live below the poverty line. Tragedy struck when Laxmi was 10 years old and her father passed away. Her father worked hard to pay for his children's education and, after losing him, Laxmi was at risk of falling further into extreme poverty.

With the support of our partner Caritas Nepal, Laxmi joined a child's club at her school where she was encouraged to resume her education. Through the child’s club, Laxmi developed the skills and confidence to become a leader, advocating for clean water taps at her school.

Laxmi is now excelling in her studies and working towards her dream of becoming a civil engineer. She continues to be involved in the child's club, serving as an advisor and mentoring the next generation of young leaders at her old school.

Watch a short film about Laxmi’s story here.

As parents, we are supportive of the school

Parents

As we near the midway point of the term, I want to emphasise the importance of your support for your child's education at St Anthony's School. Parental involvement positively impacts your child's academic performance, attitude towards school and social development.

There are several ways you can support St Anthony's School and your child's education, including attending the upcoming parent-teacher meetings, volunteering in the classroom, encouraging good study habits and staying informed and engaged.

We understand that every child is unique, with different learning styles, strengths and needs. Our teachers work tirelessly to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment that enables every child to thrive. However, we recognise that parents are the primary educators of their children, and their support is critical in reinforcing what their children learn at school.

At St Anthony's School, we value your partnership and appreciate your continued involvement. Thank you for your support.

Year 2 News Year 2 News

Year 2 students recently had the opportunity to embark on an exciting excursion to the Wanneroo Museum to learn about the rich history of the area. As they arrived at the museum, they were greeted by friendly staff members. The students were able to explore various exhibits, artifacts and displays that showcased the region's past, including the Indigenous heritage, early settlement, and the evolution of the town over time. The children were fully engaged and enthusiastic about learning as they participated in interactive activities. The excursion was a memorable and educational experience that allowed the Year 2 students to gain a deeper appreciation for the local community's history and culture.

This week we have been focusing on the PADUA value of being united. We have discussed what being united looks like, sounds like and feels like at St Anthony's School. We have tried hard to include others when playing. We have helped our classmates and used encouraging words. We have worked together to keep our classroom and school tidy.

20th-24th March - What is Harmony Week?

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs.

It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

On Tuesday 21st March, will be celebrating Harmony Week with a special dress day. Students are invited to wear their national dress or an orange shirt (no singlets) and/or accessory and are expected to wear their black sports shorts, with their black sports shoes to celebrate the diversity of our school.

The Year 2s will be conducting a special assembly to mark Harmony Week.

'Kaya' – Hello!

Noongar Language

Noongar is the official language of the Aboriginal people of the south-west of Western Australia. The language groups have some common words that will be featured here each week.

wanju – welcome

djurapin – happy

kaartdijin – knowledge, learn

Let’s celebrate and learn about our local Noongar culture.

Upper School Science Upper School Science

Science at home is a great way to help your child explore some of the concepts they are learning at school.

Below is a fun activity you can easily do with materials you probably already have in the home.

Materials

4 teaspoons of sugar

20 teaspoons of water

Food dye

Bowl

Sunny spot

Method

1. Stir the sugar into the water until it dissolves (disappears).

2. Add a few drops of food dye.

3. Leave the bowl in a sunny spot for a few days. What happens?

Did you know?

With the sun's heat, the water will evaporate from the bowl, leaving the sugar and dye behind.
