HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!
A NOTE FROM DR, COFFMAN
The students will be selling popcorn and order forms will go home tomorrow! We appreciate your support of our PTO. Our PTO is amazing and goes above and beyond for both our students and staff. The PTO provides our students with shirts for field trips, pays for all of our student's travel and field trips, purchases meals and goodies for our staff throughout the year, and always goes above and beyond when asked. If you would like to volunteer or sign up to support our PTO please contact Kassandra Martinez.
A few friendly reminders for all:
- Our tardy bell rings at 7:45 am. We are excited that most of our students are arriving to school on time and ready to work at 7:45. We are only here for four days and every single minute is valuable. If your child is tardy, you must sign them in at the office.
- Please make appointments on Mondays so that your child is not missing instruction. The spring is a very busy time in the classroom. Our role as an educator is to ensure your child masters all objectives in all subjects in each grade level. Your child will always learn better from hearing information from the teacher during the lesson when they can ask questions and engage in the learning. Our attendance goal is 98% and we are significantly below our goal! Please help support your child's education by ensuring they are here every day.
- Please ensure that your child is reading 20 minutes every night. The more they read, the better readers they become! They gain comprehension, new vocabulary, and increase their fluency (ability to read like they are talking)!

4TH GRADE
- We have been discussing poetry this week! This was touched on in previous grades, but it is hit hard and heavy in 4th grade. We've learned about the different forms of poetry, along with many elements such as stanzas, lines, rhyme scheme, meter, etc. We will continue working on analyzing and making inferences based on poems into next week. This is very important to learn and master because there will be poetry seen on the STAAR test. In Social Studies we have continued learning about the Battle at the Alamo and other important events in Texas history.
Reminders...
- We have had many students absent and missing important days of school. It is imperative that your child is here and on time every day if possible! Please reach out to me if your child will be absent.

4th Grade Math---We are enjoying our unit on Geometry. We have a lot of vocabulary to be familiar with, but the students are loving this section. We are currently classifying quadrilaterals, angles, and triangles. We are also working with unit fractions and angle measurement. Please have your child define their vocabulary to you and help them look for everyday objects they can classify.
4th Grade Science---We are working on the water cycle. They should be able to draw out/label the processes involved in the water cycle as well as explain those processes. They have been working hard.
5th Grade Science---We have been talking about the rotation of the Earth and the moon phases. They should be able to describe, in detail, the different moon phases and explain why and how often they happen.
Thank you for sharing your children,
Mrs. Brown 🙂
Brown 🙂
5TH GRADE
Math
-Slowly wrapping up measurement conversions. Yay! Some of my students took it like torture, but what needs to get done, needs to get done.
-We will be going to Ordered Pairs and the Plane. The very basics of reading and plotting coordinates. After this chapter we will be on the very last chapter with Data Analysis. We will be reading and creating a variety of graphs before we start to STAAR review.
-We need to have students in class every day. We do not need them to miss any new information. We want them to be ready for STAAR and 6th grade.
Thank you for all your support.
Mrs. Gamez
Sra. Gámez
In ELAR, we have started our unit over poetry! This has been fun for all because we are looking at some really neat poems and songs and dissecting them to understand them. We will continue this into next week and then will wrap up our unit next week. In Social Studies, we are in the middle of the Civil War. We will continue our discussions over the Civil War over the next week.
Some reminders:
- Please be checking your child's Bronco Folder when I am sending it home. If your child has corrections that need to be completed, they will be in there.
- Please have your child at school as much as possible. We are really starting to ramp up for our STAAR test and every minute counts in all of their classes.
- If your child is going to be out, please reach out to me or Mrs. Sandy, and I will be sure to have work for your child if they will be out.
- New spelling words will go home next week so we will not have a spelling test until the following week. Please be on the lookout for those.
If you have any questions, as always feel free to reach out to me on Dojo!
Thank you for all you do!
Mrs. Rasco
