An important note from our police partners on e-scooters, e-bikes and e-motos
As electric ride-ons become increasingly popular among students, our school district is sharing important safety rules and legal regulations provided by our local police and park partners. Knowing minimum age requirements, device classifications and location restrictions helps ensure our students travel to and from school safely.
Quick rules checklist:
E-Scooters: Ages 12+ | Allowed on trails and streets (not sidewalks)
E-Bikes: Ages 15+ | Allowed on sidewalks, trails and streets
E-Motos: Ages 16+ | Driver's license, registration and license plate required; streets only
Helmets: Required by law for riders under 18
Safety checklist:
Before riding, age-appropriate students should inspect for functional pedals, throttles and speed limits before they head out. While en route:
Stay alert: Put phones and earbuds away while riding.
Share the path: Yield to pedestrians, slow down in school zones, and pass on the left.
Follow traffic laws: Obey all stop signs and lane markings.
Stay visible: Use front/rear lights during early morning commuting hours.
While on school property: Dismount and walk devices once you’re on school property, parking them strictly at designated bike racks.
