Principal's Update

Students were hard at work this week. Superintendent Layne Millington joined me Thursday morning for observations of math in kindergarten through grade six. Most students were doing Work Places, the game and application component of the Bridges curriculum. Overall, he saw that classroom routines and high expectations have allowed for smooth classroom activities. Braintree teachers work diligently to prepare and facilitate rigorous lessons for students in all subject areas. In that vein, teachers have a professional development afternoon on Tuesday the 17th, so students have a half day. Teachers will be sharing common grade-level math assessments across the district and planning for the next Bridges unit.

We do not have school Monday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. day. I hope everyone has a nice long weekend, and we're looking forward to seeing everyone back for the half day on Tuesday.

Braintree Blossoms Cookbook

Our first run of cookbooks flew off the shelf. We are printing new copies based on this order request. Cookbooks are $6 each and payment can be made upon pickup.

The Trout Are Here!

An annual favorite tradition at Braintree has begun again. Students will care for trout eggs until they are ready to release in the wild. They monitor the tank and equipment, chemical levels in the water, and assess the health of the eggs and hatched trout.
