Last Week of 2025

BWMS Families,

Thank you for helping make the first half of the 2025-26 school year go so well. No doubt, the students and staff at BWMS have been working hard this first semester yet we have much to still accomplish. We can now rest well over the break knowing that we have given great effort in 2025. May the upcoming winter break provide much rest and relaxation. Enjoy time with your family and friends. We look forward to great things in 2026.

Lets finish in style with our Spirit Days and School Dance from Student Council.

BWLS Book Drive

The Library Team is excited to share some book-tastic news… we’re hosting a Big Walnut Book Drive! From December 8th through January 31st, we’ll be collecting gently-used books to help grow reading opportunities for students across our district. If you have books looking for a new home, we’d love to give them one! You can drop off donations in any of the collection boxes located in our School Libraries. Just look for the Book Drive Signs/Red boxes—and the ever-growing stacks of stories waiting to be shared!

Thank you for helping us spread the joy of reading. Your generosity truly makes a difference, and we’re grateful for all the ways you support our readers.

Attention 8th Grade parents - BWMS Needs Your Help on Friday, Jan 23rd (corrected date)

On Friday January 23rd, 8th grade students will participate in a hands-on budget management and decision-making spending simulation in which we need your help. Real Money. Real World. (RMRW) is a financial literacy program for youth from Ohio State University Extension. This curriculum helps students connect college and career planning with budgeting principles within schools. Volunteers are needed to help run the following stations for students to see all of the factors that contribute to a healthy budget: Chance, Child Care, Clothing, Communications, Contributions, Credit and College Loan, Entertainment, Food, Housing, Insurance, Transportation, Utilities.

Sign Up for a time commitment HERE!

Real Money Real World - Big Walnut Middle School

We appreciate your time! You will be signing up to work a booth in which the students will visit. Each booth is a category in a typical household budget. There will be a large poster with options for them to choose and you will help them discuss the options given their income. There will be a sheet at the station for you to quickly review at the beginning of your shift. Each student will be 27 years old and randomly drew to determine the size of their family. Note that the second shift has a break from 12:15 to 12:40 so you may want to bring something to read or do during that short time. We need to stay in the library during this time. Please arrive at school with time to check in at the office prior to the start of your shift. Bring your driver license. We will be upstairs in the library and after you check in at the office, you will be guided to the location.
