On the Agenda
We have a few exciting and important topics to cover this month:
Board Member Elections: Help us shape the leadership for the upcoming term.
Staff Appreciation: Let’s finalize the ways we want to show our amazing teachers and staff how much we care!
Looking Ahead: We’ll be gathering ideas for the next school year.
Calendar Planning: We’ll be working on a rough draft of our events calendar to get a head start on the fun.
Whether you’ve been to every meeting or this is your very first one, your input is incredibly valuable. We’re better when we work together!
We look forward to seeing you there!
✨ Volunteer Spotlight: Jocelyne Murphy ✨
This month, we are beyond excited to shine a bright light on a parent who truly embodies the spirit of our school community: Jocelyne Murphy.
When we talk about "stepping up," Jocelyne is the first person who comes to mind. Over the past month, she hasn't just lent a hand—she’s been an asset as we've held these events.
Above and Beyond the Call of Duty
From books to boogieing, Jocelyne’s impact was felt everywhere:
Double the Literacy: Not content with just one shift, Jocelyne supported the Book Fair twice in a single week, ensuring our students found their next favorite stories.
The Ultimate Dance Partner: She arrived early to transform our space with decorations for the School Dance, spent her evening handing out glow sticks and glasses to excited students, and—perhaps most heroically—stayed until the very end to help with the cleanup.
In Her Own Words
When we asked Jocelyne what inspired her to dedicate so much of her time and energy to WDES, her answer was simple and heartfelt:
"I helped out because I wanted to get more involved and do what I could to help make the Book Fair and the dance a great experience for my son and all the kids who could go."
It’s that kind of selfless dedication that makes our school a better place for every student. Thank you, Jocelyne, for your hard work, your kind heart, and for being such an inspiration to us all!
THANK YOUS!
Thank you to everyone who helped make our dance this past Friday such a success. It truly took a village!
Our Sincere Gratitude To:
Dr. Repass: Thank you for giving the PTO the opportunity to hold our very first dance! We know coordinating after-school events is no small feat, and we greatly appreciate the chance to try something new for our students.
Our Teachers: Thank you to everyone who sent home flyers and ensured completed forms made it to the office.
The Front Office & Finance Team: A huge thank you to Mrs. Dickerson, Mrs. Lopez, and Mrs. Holden for processing the funds every day leading up to the event.
The Food Crew: Thank you Mrs. Rich for organizing and cooking the food, and to Mrs. Perrigan, Ms. Hendricks, and Mrs. Johnson for your hard work serving during the event.
The Decorating Committee: The atmosphere was wonderful thanks to Mrs. Willoughby, Mr. Aparato, Ms. Canete, Ms. Viudez, Mrs. Sharp, Mrs. Hoskins, and Mrs. King.
Event Operations & Security: We couldn't have done it without those managing the metal detectors, check-ins, and cleanup: Mrs. Calhoun, Deputy Felts, Mrs. King, Mr. Freno, Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Lopez, Mrs. Emory, Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Hoskins.
PTO Members & Parent Volunteers: Last but certainly not least, thank you to our dedicated parents who helped before, during, and after the event: Mrs. Suthard, Mrs. Grusescki, Mrs. Remington, Ms. Murphy, Mrs. Karpinski, Mrs. Snyder, and Mrs. Hunter.
Note: If I have missed anyone who supported us through this endeavor, please forgive me—it was by no means intentional! Please feel free to comment or reach out to me directly so I can remedy the situation and give credit where it is due.
Thank you!
